Midtown Brewery has recently decided to expand their menu by adding new and exciting burgers. You can still find the international dishes which includes many different styles such as German, British, Japanese, Spanish, and French cuisine. Midtown is able to provide a unique dining experience every time you go. By offering a variety of dishes from all over the world, Midtown is able to bring people together for an exciting night out. When you see the quality of their in-home brewing and their dishes, you can truly taste that they respect every dish and beer type that range from Western and Eastern parts of the world. The experience is passed from the staff to the customers. Midtown wants to be known for building a better eating and drinking culture in Hangzhou.

If you don’t know Midtown Brewery, which is located at the Shangri-La Hotel, right beside the Kerry Center, they are most known for their well brewed craft beer, which makes them extremely popular in Hangzhou. Their brew master Eric, is a guiding light. Eric can explain everything when it comes to craft beer at Midtown. His passion, ambition, and knowledge sets the tone for craft beers in Hangzhou. His seasonal craft beer masterpieces included the Chocolate Nitro Brew, the Cream Ale Nitro, and his Hangzhou IPA.

Eric is always finding new and exciting ideas to brew, so it is always good to keep a tab on him for his future projects. By the time you read this, the Kumquat Wheat Ale will be completely gone. But fear not, due to the unforeseen popularity of this beer, Eric is in production for a variation of the Kumquat beer, this time using lychee. While maintaining the easy drinking and juicy qualities that made the original so popular, an alteration will be made to the recipe to allow a different hop blend to accent with lychee flavour and aroma. Look out for this beer by the end of March.   

The Head Chef Jesse worked in Dubai for 10 years before he decided to come to Hangzhou in 2016. He is the one who creates the entire menu that includes a wide variety of international cuisine and now new burgers. The burgers come in three sizes, Mini size (98 RMB), Regular size (108 RMB), and King size (198 RMB).

All the burgers are served with French fries and 1 pint of award-winning Midtown Brewery Beer. You first choose your patty, then your bun. The first burger patty to come out was the Wagyu burger. It comes with wagyu beef, fried egg, crispy bacon, and BBQ sauce.

The second burger patty that came out included black pork, crab meat, caramelized onion, and teriyaki sauce. Then followed by that was the grilled chicken, topped with grilled mushroom, curry ketchup, and cheddar cheese. If you like seafood, then you need try this, the fish & prawn patty. This included fresh avocado, spicy tomato salsa, and truffle mayonnaise. Finally we were presented with the Peking duck patty, and all I can say is wow! It is covered with cucumber, scallion, and sweet and sour sauce. All of the combinations worked extremely well for every patty. After you choose your patty you need to choose your tasty and colourful burger bun. Jesse came up with some creative ideas for the buns. Your options for burger buns are sesame, cheese and herb, spicy pink bun, and bamboo charcoaled bun.

Midtown is offering a  Burger challenge , if you can finish the King Size burger in 20 minutes it is free, this includes the 1 pint of beer and the fries. Choose one of the burger patties and one of the buns and see if you can do it. The burger is 8 inches in diameter. Think you can do it?
