New Sandwiches, Salads and More at Café Couture

Café Couture, the furniture company café in the east side of Hangzhou, has come up with many new dishes for their menu. A total of 5 new dishes to be exact, including a sandwich, a salad, a soup, baked rice, and a seafood platter.

We started with the Low-Temperature Pork Tuna Sauce Panini (低温梅花猪肉金枪鱼酱帕尼尼, 68RMB). The sandwich bread stood out for being rugged and robust and the sandwich was well-constructed with thinly sliced layers of meat, lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese.

The Healthy Roasted Sweet Potato, Salmon Salad (养生地瓜烤鲑鱼色拉, 78RMB) had a crispy salad mix and a really big and thick portion of grilled salmon.

Bak Kut Teh is a Teochew Chinese pork rib soup found in Malaysia and Singapore. It’s made with a blend of herbs and spices such as star anise, cinnamon, cloves and garlic. It’s usually quite high in calories due to the fatty pork ribs, but Café Couture’s Singapore Bak Kut Teh (新加坡肉骨茶锅, 168RMB for 2 ppl) is a healthier version. They use pork ribs where the fat has been trimmed off and they’ve added copious amounts of vegetables. There’s a gentle herbal fragrance in the soup and it has a sweet taste from the vegetables.

It seems like a signature touch of Café Couture to make sure there’s variety of vegetables in every dish so that their food healthy. Such is the case in the Baked Japanese Style Beef Rice (日式牛肉焗烤饭, 68RMB).

Finally, the Oven Roasted Seafood Platter (炉烤海鲜拼盘, 158RMB) was a generous serving of large prawns, cheese and bread-crumbed musseks and fish stuffed baby squid.

Café Couture is located near Jiangjin Road metro station on Line 4. From Siji Road, go up the escalator by Family Mart and you’ll see Café Couture and the furniture shop.
