The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 是来自美国纽约的五人Indie Pop/ Shoegaze乐队，最初由词曲创作者、吉他手兼主唱 Kip Berman 组建于2007年。这个读起来有些拗口的乐队名字，源于Berman 好友创作的一篇儿童故事， 故事的名字就叫做The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 。他们还有着一个好听的中文名字 — 澈心之痛。

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 长久以来给人的印象是 欢快洒脱，洋溢着青春气息的流行曲调，随着新专辑 《The Echo of Pleasure 》在9月正式推出，The Pains 又一次将创作的灵感发挥到极致，并凭借自己的实力成为了Indie pop 风格里的绝对主角。乐队主脑 Kip Berman 在专辑中展现出了纯熟的词曲创作能力，也让媒体评价《The Echo of Pleasure》 是他们最自信、最成熟的一张专辑。2018年1月， The Pains 即将带着这张新专辑的作品来到中国。

The pains的前三张专辑——The Pains of Being Pure at Heart（2009） Belong（2011）和Days of Abandon （2014）均得到了来自 The New York Times, Pitchfork, The Guardian 、Rolling Stone 等媒体的广泛好评，2009年的首张同名专辑 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 更获得Pitchfork 8.4分的高分推荐。

The pains 的早期风格就像他们一首歌的名字一样—“Simple and Sure”，简单而确信。轻快的节奏仿佛让人随时跟着起舞。 而在Berman 眼中，新专辑《The Echo of Pleasure 》 是一张“heavy and hopeful” 的作品， “就好像 爱，它既有沉重的一面，也有充满希望的一面”，Berman 说道。而收录乐队最新创作的专辑《The Echo of Pleasure 》被乐队认为是有史以来最为满意的一张唱片。 Kip Berman 请来曾在上张专辑有过合作的Andy Savours 担任制作人，（他也曾担任过My Bloody Valentine, The Killers 的专辑制作人），Andy 的加入令整张专辑焕发出不同以往的光彩。

《The Echo of Pleasure 》 投射出乐队无数的快乐的时光， 但也保留着Berman 直白而具有批判性的歌词， 过去那种青少年时代的不安感和自我否定已然消失不见。“这是一张有关爱的专辑，这张专辑的音乐更加沉重， 也更加有包容性。” Berman 说道。

在乐队成立的十余年里， Berman 一直是The Pains of Being Pure at Heart乐队的核心人物，这一点从其他成员的更换也更能体现出来。乐队上一张专辑《Days of Abandon》 几乎是由 Berman 一个人完成的。在录音室里也没有人可以帮他做决定，这种与世隔离的失落感，也通过Berman 创作的歌词表达出来了。 在新专辑《The Echo of Pleasure》中， 他已渐渐接受了这一事实， 然而他仍然很开心能有许多才华横溢的乐手加入乐队。The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 目前的现场阵容包括 ：长期合作的吉他手 Christoph Hochheim， 贝斯手Jacob Danish Sloan，鼓手 Chris Schackerman ，以及键盘手兼女主音 Jess Rojas 。

New Noise proudly presents 3 shows for Brooklyn indie-pop heroes The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. The band will perform in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing to present their 4th album “The Echo of Pleasure”. Standing on the foreground of America’s indie scene the band have been praised as one of the best indie-pop bands since the late 2000’s. There’s a crisp, effervescent gallop, splitting its time between dreamy balladry and spotless indie-pop, their songs are expansive and immersive, where their sound is massive enough to match its big-hearted emotion.
The Pains’ fourth album is their most confident and accomplished. After three critically-acclaimed records, 2009’s The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, 2011’s Belong and 2014’s Days of Abandon received praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork, The Guardian and Rolling Stone, they have put together a collection of songs that possess a timeless grandeur, deeper and more satisfying than anything the band has done since their iconic debut. With The Echo of Pleasure, The Pains push beyond their many inspirations and embrace their role as indiepop heroes in their own right.
