Recently, Meituan and Dazhong Dianping released the China version of "Michelin" - the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide. 

Black Pearl Restaurant Guide is a guide that made by Dazhong Dianping and the famous foodie, culinary experts, food researcher, food critics, and food culture disseminators. It aims to present a selected fine Chinese restaurant guide to satisfy the taste buds.

Last year, based on the large data of mass user's evaluation, Dazhong Dianping released the "Dianping's Must Eat List". And this year's "Black Pearl Restaurant Guide" is the upgraded version, the best of the best.

Before the official release, a total of 540 restaurant made into the finalists, covering 22 domestic cities, 5 cities outside of China, there are 23 restaurants from Hangzhou are on the list.

The Guide has three grades, one diamond, two diamonds, and three diamonds, the higher the diamonds are, the better the restaurant is. There is 217 restaurants with one diamond, 85 with two and 28 restaurants with three diamonds, average cost is 677RMB. 

There is 15 restaurants in Hangzhou made into the finalists, 8 with one diamond, 5 with two diamonds, and 2 with three diamonds, let's check out who they are.

Man Shu / 曼殊怀石料理

Offering traditional Japanese kaiseki meals in paper screened rooms with Japanese instrumental music and serene views of a Japanese garden while you eat. Man Shu executes every course with attention to detail and elaborate preparations of the highest quality ingredients air flown from Japan. It is food that is as beautiful to look at as it is to taste.

A perfect place for you to savor gourmet cuisine with views of the Qiantang River, afterwards enjoy a cocktail on their Riverview Terrace bar all located on the 22nd Floor.

Ziweiting Chinese Restaurant, West Lake State Guesthouse / 西湖国宾馆紫薇厅

The opulently decorated Ziweiting was the venue for the state banquets of G20. Here you can taste dishes that were served to world leaders, such as Dong Po Rou at the China-Russia dinner or the Spicy Shrimps served at the China-US dinner. The food and service were impeccable, as can be expected. There are 4 private rooms and the minimum cost per person is 1000RMB+15%.

Tian Lun Li / 天伦里餐厅

The food is mixed Jiangnan and Hong Kong style western dishes with a French fine dining presentation. It has became the place to eat crabs. Instead of an à la carte menu, a set menu is presented for lunch and dinner, with the menu changing daily. The set menu costs 238RMB.

Wujie / 大蔬无界杭州万象城美素馆

Wujie is a vegetarian restaurant that offers world food in meat-free forms. A selection of dishes cooked in a wide range of styles that would satisfy all, ranging from the well-known to veggie spins on meaty favourites, mostly featuring mushrooms and their homemade tofu.

Madam Zhu’s Kitchen / 汉舍小雅汉舍小馆

Nestled in the manicured greenery along the north side of the Grand Canal on Lishui Road is Madame Zhu’s Kitchen; an upscale restaurant serving up some of the best Beijing duck we’ve had outside the nation’s capital. The Feng Shui’d grounds sandwich the open, plantation-style, dining area between two courtyards. If you’re headed to Madame Zhu’s to nosh on some lacquered quacker, you’ll want to call ahead to reserve your duck (168RMB), which comes straight from Beijing’s famed Quan 

Ju De. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. No English menu.

Yema Teahouse / 叶马茶楼

This teahouse/restaurant moved from Santaishan Road to Zhijiang Road, it serves classic family style Hangzhou dishes. Five Spiced Tofu (五香素鸡), Fried Prawns with Soy Sauce (油爆大虾), Deep Fried Ribbon Fish (酒香干炸带鱼), Braised Pork with Quail Eggs (蛋烧肉 48RMB) are their signature dishes and are amazing. The menu is all in Chinese. If you had a whole afternoon to kill, we suggest you to get a table outside, order some tea, and enjoy the good weather while we have it.

Deming Restaurant / 德明饭店

Mr. Ma's private kitchen, he is almost crazy about the food materials, "the food material he bought must be the most expensive one in the same kind!" In guest's word, the Mr. Ma's food is not the same as other places - "It's hard to say, but they are just so delicious".

When we think of Southern-styled decorations, we are often reminded of our time when we went to Suzhou often. If you’ve ever got a hankering to learn a thing or two about the art of Chinese minimalist design, well there’s no better place to start than the gardens of Suzhou. Or for that matter, you could just go to the “outskirts” of town to Guiyu Restaurant.  English and picture menu, and parking available with an umbrella totting man waiting there to escort you through the rain should you get caught in it.

Jie Xiang Lou / 解香楼

Swank, swank, swankeeeee! Jie Xiang Lou serves elegant, refined Chinese cuisine, with an emphasis on Jiang Nan specialties. Dishes are beautifully plated with an artistic touch and natural elements. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in Ming Dynasty style with lanterns, grey brick walls and wooden beams. The place is immaculate, with a small dining room, private rooms, VIP rooms and a banquet room. The tableside service is top-notch; the best we’ve seen yet. As for the food, there is a wide range of dishes, from local to sashimi. And you wine connoisseurs will not be disappointed.  The location is in the gorgeous, green and hilly western part of Hangzhou, adding to the overall dining experience. There’s an impressive list of imports.

Needless to mention the natural environment, even the waiter calls every guest as "teacher", the service is top-notch, the food are all special private cooking dishes, the waiter tells the guests the production process of each dish, absolutely the top enjoyment.
