The troupe band was founded in 2008, Shanghai folk music created by ma. The troupe has published "the band" tune "wushisan" as "Taiping" Yi's three album, and won the thirteenth session of the Chinese media awards best band, best actor, best folk music album design nominations.
戏班，成立于2008年的上海，创始人竹马。先后出版《就是这个调调》《五石散》《太平有象》三张专辑，获得2013、2014两届华语传媒最佳新乐队、最佳乐队、最佳民族艺人、最佳摇滚艺人、最佳录音等五个奖项。先后受邀于萨尔斯堡、柏林、汉堡、纽约、布达佩斯、德里、香港、伦敦南岸等各大艺术节。其歌曲《数人玩》被广为传唱。
The band with Chinese traditional operas such as Shaanxi, Jingyuntaigu, Jiangzhou drum, the Yellow River song and China traditional instruments as the basis, combined with other kinds of music elements such as long Tibet, India aboriginal music and music, as well as minimal and Dub and other modern electronic elements, re creation and improvement in Chinese culture cross music.
戏班的音乐包含了琴书、秦腔、京韵大鼓、评弹、京剧、世界音乐、摇滚、实验、现代爵士等多种音乐元素。竹马称自己的音乐为 HAIPAD，意为 ‘海派的’。西方各大艺术媒体也一致赞赏戏班的音乐 ‘ 新鲜的，从未有过的中国传统和现代的结合，一个新的未来的开始 ’ 。
"Wanpi" is an album in the troupe band the original plan, but eventually "pihuang" named after the music work. "Wanpi" comes from the China opera, try to use a more liberal spirit to enrich the ancient music language, with a more modern sound field to reshape her bone strength. "Yellow" is an important element of Chinese traditional opera music, is referred to as the xipi and Erhuang, also known as "pihuang tune".
《玩皮》是一张全新却又以「皮黃」命名的音乐作品，他来源于中国京剧，却尝试用更自由的精神来丰富这古老的音乐语言，用更现代的声场来重塑他骨子里的劲道。 「皮黃」是中国传统京剧音乐的重要元素，是西皮二黃的统称，也可以称之为「皮黄调」。对戏班而言，她和西方的爵士、布魯斯、摇滚乐完全可以结合，不仅可以结合，而且还能结合得很巧妙、很高级、很动听。戏班把这种结合后的音乐还是叫做「皮黃」，因为只有这个名字才能真实际表达他们传承与发展的意图，而且她读上去还这么美。
