杰森图书馆从外面看就是一家小小的图书馆，但是你所不知道的是里面别有洞天。从小便在世界各地的寄宿家庭里长大的杰森对英国菜和肉有一种特别的情怀。每过一两个月，他都要推出一些新菜，当然都是他最爱的肉，我们也习惯了每个月都会有个周一在他那里把酒言欢、畅谈美食、各抒己见。餐厅开了一年了，杰森还如当初那样，认真、执着，相信每个人都能在这个月的新菜当中找到自己中意的那一款。

When it comes to beef dishes, Jason’s Library certainly has the best menu in town. He was the one who first brought Beef Wellington to Hangzhou, plus other British specialties like Scotch Eggs, Steak and Guinness Pie and Stargazy Fish Pie. For this holiday season, Jason is being thoughtful to vegetarians and has added some new, mostly meat-free, creations.

First we started with a vegetarian appetizer, Bell Pepper Toasts (48RMB). These are simple and colourful bruschetta with lightly marinated strips of red, yellow and orange bell peppers and feta cheese.

The other completely vegetarian dish was Aubergine, Tomato & Cheese Bake (78RMB), a version of eggplant parmigiana with the addition of feta cheese. It’s served hot and bubbly, fresh from the oven and I liked that it wasn’t too oily.

Beef & Rocket Salad (58RMB) is truly a Jason’s Library style salad because underneath that pile of rocket leaves, shaved parmesan and mushrooms are loads of thick and tender slices of Australian M3 beef tenderloin filet. You are eating a salad but you don’t feel like you are depriving yourself in the least with all the fabulous beef they give you. Furthermore, tenderloin is a very lean cut of beef, making this a healthy, low-calorie salad.

Next up was a seafood pasta, Catalina Homemade Fettuccine (88RMB). It has a smoky paprika sauce and seasonal seafood like prawns and mussels, carried by hand-made pasta. The texture of the pasta was quite nice, not tough at all and with a slight chew.

For Christmas time, there are just some traditional foods that we feel homesick for and Jason’s Library will offer us a Turkey Leg (158RMB) platter. This turkey leg was massive, almost 1 kg, and can be shared by 3-4 people. It comes with fixings like mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Jason’s Library is a speakeasy style restaurant and bar accessed through a secret bookshelf in a cookbook library. Once you enter the library, an attendant will open the secret bookshelf for you to slip through.
