报告摘要
Valleytronics aims to utilize the valley degree of freedom to encode and process information. It has been a fast-growing field in the past decade. In this talk, I will show how the topology and symmetry considerations can help to design novel types of valleytronic devices which could have improved performance. By utilizing topological boundary or domain wall states, one can design valley filters with 100% filtering efficiency. By imposing special symmetry constraint, one can realize a special valley-superlayer coupling mechanism, which allows a direct coupling between valley and gate electric field. Furthermore, we find that systems with valley-superlayer coupling can exhibit other interesting physics, such as valley-contrasting linear dichroism and optical selection of the valley, and the electric polarization of interlayer excitons.
