报告摘要

The marriage of topology and phononics brings an emerging field “topological phononics”, which utilizes novel quantum degrees of freedom like the Berry phase, pseudospin and topology for controlling phonons in unprecedentedly new ways. In this talk, we will first review recent research progress of this intriguing field. Then after discussing the fundamental concepts/methods of topological phononics, we will introduce our recent works on exploring nontrivial topological states of phonons, including quantum (anomalous) Hall-like states with broken time reversal symmetry (TRS), pseudo-spins and 2D/3D topological states of phonons with no need of TRS breaking. Finally we will give an outlook for the future of the field.

个人简介

Dr. Yong Xu is now anassociate professor at Department of Physics, Tsinghua University (2018-present) and a unit leader of RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science (CEMS) (2015-present). He received his B.S. degree in Physics (2005) and Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics (2010) at Tsinghua University. Then he worked at Fritz Haber Institute of Max Planck Society (2011-2013) and Stanford University (2013-2015) as a postdoc and a research scholar, respectively. He was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship of Germany (2011). His main research interest is to understand/predict unusual quantum phenomena and novel material properties, based on first-principles calculations.

第四届“全国热传导研讨会（WTT2019）”由华中科技大学和南京师范大学-苏力科技热能研究中心共同主办，于2019年9月21日至25日在武汉市荷田大酒店举行。WTT2019旨在为热输运领域的研究人员和研究生提供一个交流学习的平台，分享近来在理论、模拟和实验方面的进展，交流最新的科研思想。
