报告摘要



2D layered materials, particularly semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted tremendous research works. Recent advances in van der Waal (vdW) heterobilayers (hBLs) formed by vertical stacks of two different monolayer TMDs further show their promise for novel device applications. TMD hBLs also feature their type-II band alignment, which can separate photoexcited electrons and holes into different materials to form interlayer excitons, which can carrier spin and valley pseudospin in different layers as a novel valleytronic platform. Here, I will present our recent endeavors on the material synthesis and fundamental study of 2D TMDs and their vdW hBLs grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Recent progress on synthesizing highly oriented TMDs, h-BN and noble metal dichalcogenides (such as PtSe₂ and PdSe₂ with strongly layer number dependent properties) will be presented. In the second part, I will focus on CVD-grown vdW hBLs with perfect interlayer atomic registry. Such a commensurate stacking is very different from manually stacked hBLs, where the inevitable interlayer translation, twist and/or lattice mismatch could lead to a periodic variation of local atomic registry, i.e., the Moiré superlattice. The stacking symmetry is found to play a critical role in not only the interlayer spin transfer, but also the helicity of circularly polarized emissions from interlayer excitons. Stacking dependent interlayer hybridizations that forms new-type of excitonic states will be demonstrated. The impact of the presence or absence of Moire potential on the interlayer exciton diffusion in hBLs will be presented. By stacking the CVD-grown highly oriented TMDs, heterobilayers with small twist angles (< 5°) near the perfect R-type (0°) and H-type (60°) stacking can be studied. The impacts of Moire periodicity on the interlayer exciton emissions with be demonstrated and discussed.



个人简介



Dr. Chang is currently a distinguished professor of physics at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan. He received his BS, MSand PhD degrees in Physics from National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. After his postdoctoral research at NCU, he joined the Department of Electrophysics at NCTU as an assistant professor in 2005 and became a full professor since 2012. His research interests include light-matter interactions in semiconductor nanostructures, nanophotonics/plasmonics hybrid systems, and 2D layered materials. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 journal papers and received citation more than 5,400 times with an h index of 32, according to Google Scholar. He was awarded the Ta-Yu Wu Memorial Award in 2010, the Distinguished Research Award in 2018, and the Sun YetSen Academic Award in 2018. Dr. Chang is the Editor of Chinese Journal of Physics and the Editorial Board Members of Scientific Report.

The 5th International Conference on 2D Materials and Technology was held in Suzhou, China, October 21-24, 2019. Prestigious scientists presented and stimulated discussions over some inherent topics of the ICON-2DMAT, including the Synthesis and Characterizations, Physics and Chemistry, Device applications, Theory and Modeling of 2D materials and heterostructures, etc. And, a special session related to the Vacuum Interconnected Nanotech Workstation (Nano-X) in Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics was be set up, which was dedicated to introduce a large scientific facility to 2D materials and technology. Specific forums and some other Symposia co-organized with preeminent academic publishers was be also established to foster academic and business networking.
