Stefan Geisen is an Assistant Professor in the Laboratory of Nematology at Wageningen University. He is interested in all soil biodiversity, particularly the role of protists and nematodes as major controllers of the soil microbiome. His research focuses on understanding the functional implication of these interactions such as on the performance of plants, greenhouse gas emissions and other soil functions. His work on these more rarely studied soil organisms has led to many publications in major soil, microbial, and general scientific journals including Nature, other Nature journals, Science Advances, Microbiome etc. He is Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Soil Biology, Section editor of Pedobiologia and Editorial Board member of Soil Ecology Letters.
