用英语怎么说？

上周六，特朗普给韩国总统打电话时，提到自己收到了一封来自金正恩的热情的信（warm letter）。

随后，在白宫的疫情通报会（press briefing on the coronavirus pandemic），特朗普可能受够了关于疫情的提问，突然转移话题，再次提到了金正恩的这封信。

“I received a nice note from him recently. It was a nice note. I think we’re doing fine.”

特朗普保持了一贯灵活的语言风格，有限的几个形容词，可以和其他词进行各种排列组合。

随后，和往常一样，特朗普没有忘记自吹，表示如果不是因为他当选，美国已经和朝鲜打仗了（the U.S. would have been at war with North Korea if he had not been elected）。

这句话使用了特朗普非常擅长的虚拟语气。因为特朗普当选是事实，这里做了与事实相反的假设，所以要用虚拟。

特朗普讲话信口开河是众所周知的。他说这封信很warm，很nice，两人关系很fine，很多人可能会质疑这些形容词有夸张的成分，但还不至于认为这封信是不存在的。

然而，我们还是低估了特朗普的创造力。这封信不仅不warm，不nice，而且连这封信都是不存在的。

在特朗普反复提到这封信后不久，昨天，朝中社（Korean Central News Agency）站了出来，用朝鲜语、英语 、汉语 、俄语、西班牙语、日本语，共6种语言向全世界发表声明，驳斥特朗普，表示所谓的那封信，是不存在的。

我们来看一下朝中社中英文声明的原文，其中有些中文可能不太地道，听起来有些别扭。

声明首先回顾了所发生的事情：

据美国媒体１８日报道，美国总统在一场记者会上表示，收到朝鲜最高领导人发来的“好信”。

U.S. media on April 18 quoted the U.S. president as saying to the reporters that he received a "good letter" from the supreme leadership of the DPRK.

good letter被很耿直地翻译为“好信”。引用某人说了哪些话，一个地道的表述就是quote sb. as saying sth.，可见朝中社的英文表达很地道 。DPRK是朝鲜英文名的缩写，全称是Democratic People's Republic of Korea，North Korea是外媒使用的简称，是不规范的。

在回顾了特朗普讲话之后，朝中社明确表示，最近没写过信：

虽然不太明确美国总统是否回顾过去来往的亲笔信，但最近我们最高首脑没有向美国总统发去任何信函。

He could have referred to the personal letters that had been exchanged in the past, we are not sure. But there was no letter addressed recently to the U.S. president by the supreme leadership of the DPRK.

随后，朝中社不留情面地指出，特朗普的讲话是无稽之谈：

我们将要集中分析美国领导层向媒体传出无稽之言的意图。

We are about to look into the matter to see if the U.S. leadership seeks anything in feeding the ungrounded story into the media.

look into the matter表示进行调查研究。feed本意是喂食，可以引申为提供信息。ungrounded表示没有根据的，无稽之谈，story表示故事，ungrounded story明确表示，这封信只是虚构的故事，是不存在的。

在驳斥了特朗普之后，朝中社开始训话了：

朝美首脑之间的关系不能随时闲谈，更不能利用于自私目的。

The relations between the top leaders of the DPRK and the U.S. are not an issue to be taken up just for diversion nor should it be misused for meeting selfish purposes.

diversion可以表示an action or event that attracts your attention away from what you are doing or concentrating on，即让人分心的事物或消遣。

朝中社用diversion一词，显然是洞察了特朗普的小算盘。抗疫不力，想把朝鲜领导人拿来消遣，转移话题？没门！究竟谁是谁非？历史会给出答案。
