提要

8月21日，《中国日报》英文版采用新华社通稿刊发图片新闻《Counties combine to beat poverty（团结战贫）》，报道了广西壮族自治区和贵州省交界处深山中的乌英苗寨，苗族群众团结起来共同努力脱贫攻坚。报道称，通过两 省区的努力，贫困家庭数量从2016年的92户下降到4户。

Poverty-alleviation measures, including building roads and renovating schools, are improving the lives of the Miao people

Hidden deep in the mountains that straddle the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Guizhou province, Wuying village is home to 143 families－about 700 people－all members of the Miao ethnic group.

（大意：乌英苗寨隐藏在广西壮族自治区和贵州省的群山深处，有143户人家，约700人，是苗族聚居村寨。）

Most of them, 102 families, fall under the jurisdiction of Guangxi's Rongshui Miao autonomous county, while the rest are residents of Guizhou's Congjiang county.

（大意：其中，102个家庭，属于广西融水苗族自治县管辖，其馀的是贵州从江县居民。）

The remoteness and administrative complexity meant the village was poor, but thanks to poverty-alleviation efforts by the two counties, the number of impoverished families has fallen from 92 in 2016 to four.

（大意：这个村庄是贫困村，但由于这两个县的扶贫努力，贫困家庭的数量已经从2016年的92个下降到4个。）

To meet the goal of eliminating poverty in the village by the end of the year, a road is being built, the school is undergoing renovation and training courses on agricultural techniques have been held regularly.

（大意：为了实现年底前在该村消除贫困的目标，正在修建一条道路，学校正在翻修，定期举办农业技术培训班。）
