T-Factor | Urban Regeneration in the city we live in
The T-Factor Project, which started in Europe, is a global initiative to explore the use of "Meanwhile Space" in urban regeneration by 25 partners, including cities, universities, public entities, businesses, experts, non-profit and grassroots organizations.
About T-Factor
The cities’ hardware such as buildings and infrastructure has brought great efficiency and convenience to our life, but the complexity and variability of rapid development and the new needs that emerge in the community can no longer be met by existing urban regeneration approaches. Vacant buildings, plots and unused spaces are more and more, the reconstruction of cities’ software - such as social, economic and cultural, has become more necessary.
T-Factor Project wants to explore and establish a set of tested innovation strategies of urban regeneration by studying the existence, design, uses managements and technologies of Meanwhile Space. T-Factor is trying to make the city more thrive and persist, and at the same time act as prototypes for future city and community constructions.
Meanwhile Space: is places that are vacant and unused, and meanwhile can be used as temporary sites for co-creative experimentation.
T-Factor in EU
In Europe, the number of Meanwhile Space is in the rising trend, and more and more co-creative experimentations are happening in those spaces. And under this premise, T-Factor was started on June, 2020 in Europe.
The main objective is to transform various historic urban areas in Europe into dynamic hubs conducive to inclusive urban renewal and social innovation and entrepreneurship. Now, 6 European cities have joined T-Factor as pilots, which will help verify the key role that Meanwhile Space plays in unleashing inclusive, sustainable and thriving urban areas.
