Beijing has the most Chinese billionaires, followed by Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Beijing, the capital city of China, still boasts the greatest number of wealthy individuals in 2017 in the country, although runner-up Shenzhen is fast closing the gap.

In total, 300 wealthy Chinese with a net worth of at least US$300 million reside in Beijing, accounting for 14% of the 2,130 individuals who made that cut-off for the list, according to “The Richest People in China,” an annual ranking of the wealthiest Chinese by Luxembourg-born British businessman Rupert Hoogewerf, who is known by his Chinese name Hu Run and runs the eponymous research and media firm.
However, Beijing has 22 fewer wealthiest residents this year. Shenzhen, boosted by the number of millionaires technology giant Tencent has produced, has gained 28, for a total of 223.
While Shanghai registers 11 more individuals with a net worth of US$300 million and more, raising the total to 173, Hangzhou, where the e-commerce giant Alibaba is headquartered, had 30 more residents on the Hurun list. There are now 153 individuals worth at least US$300 million in Hangzhou.
Other findings in this year’s report: Real estate developer Xu Jiayin of Evergrande China is the richest person in China with a net worth of US$43 billion, replacing another real estate mogul, Wang Jianlin of Wanda, who falls to fifth place with US$23 billion.
Overall, 14.6% or 311 richest Chinese have accumulated their wealth in real estate, making it the No. 2 industry following manufacturing.
The combined wealth of the 2,130 individuals with US$300 million amounts to US$2.6 trillion, equivalent to the U.K.’s gross domestic product, the fifth largest economy in the world.
The average wealth of China’s richest has grown at 12.5% year-over-year, almost double the pace of the country’s GDP growth.
The number of billionaires has risen to 647, increasing 53 from last year and up 396 from five year ago.

There are 797 billionaires identified as Chinese now.
The United States has eight billionaires of Chinese descent, tying with Thailand and Indonesia as the fifth largest country of residence, according to the report.

10月12日《36计•胡润百富榜2017》发布，中国首富再次易位。这一次，地产界“打败”了互联网界，许家印以2900亿元首次成为中国首富，财富几乎是去年的4倍；而46岁的马化腾财富增长52%，以2500亿元超越马云位列第二；53岁的马云及其家族财富缩水2%，以2000亿元退居第三。其中，有28位富豪居住在厦门，排名富豪居住地TOP16.
富豪地区分布
北京仍然是最多企业家偏好居住的城市，300位上榜企业家居住在北京，虽然比去年减少22位；深圳进一步拉大与上海的距离，以223位排名第二，比去年增加28位。上海保持第三，173位，比去年增加11位。杭州保持第四，153位，比去年增加30位。今年人数增加最多的就是杭州，其次是深圳。厦门则排名第16位，共有28位富豪占比1.3%，比去年增加了1位。
从企业家出生地来看，粤商今年第一次超越浙商排名第一，比去年增加52人到284人；浙商有263人，比去年增加15人。排名第三的是苏商，有133人，比去年增加12人；福建共89人，比去年增加1位。
广东仍然是最多上榜企业家设立企业总部的地区，有457位，又比去年增加51位；北京仍为第二，有312位，但比去年减少30位；浙江保持第三，有306位，比去年增加28位；排名上升最快的是贵州和宁夏，其次是天津和新疆。而福建有74位，比去年减少了6位，福建首富为达利食品许世辉家族。
对比去年，有16位新的地区首富。只有43位上榜企业家将企业总部设在大陆以外，其中，香港最多，有37位；美国第二，有4位；英国和澳门并列第三，各有1位。
