Permit rules eased for foreign executives of security firms

Foreigners who are legal representatives or major executives in Shanghai, such as general managers of security firms, no longer have to provide proof of their work experience when the firms apply for business permits.

Previously they had to prove that they have at least five years' work experience in the security service business as managers.

Zhu Liang, a police officer at the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, said it doesn’t mean that such qualifications are no longer required from foreigners who open or are employed at security firms.

"The qualifications are determined by the trade, but we now exempt the firms from preparing certain materials when applying for business permits because the specific qualification can be proved by our means," he said.

The same exemption also covers Chinese legal representatives or managers of such firms who have at least five years' experience working in the army, police or security and justice administrations.

The new measures are a continuation of Shanghai police’s efforts to offer more convenience to people who seek administrative services from them.
