As government affairs professionals, especially those who are working on the cooperation between multinational companies and the Chinese government, we know that the most important and difficult part of our daily work is the communication between Chinese and Western cultures. On the one hand, when we are faced with Chinese government officials, we introduce Western historical experience and are not good at communicating in localized languages; on the other hand, we can have a deep understanding of China's politics, economy, society, and industry. Communication is both an art and a theory.

This course aims to help government affairs professionals better understand the differences between Chinese and Western cultures based on their work background, job requirements, and job characteristics, and review issues from multiple perspectives to systematically analyse the causes of differences between Chinese and Western cultures. And from the perspective of government affairs, we will put forward suggestions on how to build consensus and promote work in the context of the intersection of two different cultures.

GERMAN CHAMBER

Mission Accomplished: Welcome back to China!

AHK Greater China, together with the German Diplomatic Mission and Lufthansa, are organizing charter flights to help German companies in China to return urgently required personnel and project specialists as well as their families back to China.

The first two charter flights were successfully completed on 29th May from Frankfurt to Tianjin and on 3rd June from Frankfurt to Shanghai. A total of around 400 managers, employees and their families were on board. In close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese local authorities, a comprehensive triple security procedure has been implemented (one COVID-19 test before departure, two tests after arrival) and all passengers have to undergo a 14-day quarantine in a designated hotel, according to the COVID-19 safety regulations. To facilitate the return to China and ease the time in quarantine, the German Chamber provided welcome-back goodie bags as well as an online entertainment program for the passengers during quarantine. The German Chamber would like to sincerely thank their members for supporting this important process.

To meet the high demand and support the Sino-German business community in the best possible way, three more possible charter flights from Frankfurt to Qingdao are planned in July. If you have any questions regarding the possible charter flights, please send an email to charter@bj.china.ahk.de or call us +86-10 6539 6777.
