China's new national exhibition center in Tianjin put into use



Another grand national exhibition center put into use in Tianjin as the National Convention & Exhibition Center (NCEC) (Tianjin) put on its debut expo -- the China Building Science Conference and Green Intelligent Building Expo, according to the Publicity Department of Tianjin Municipality.


The NCEC (Tianjin) is the third national convention and exhibition center project decided by the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) after the two counterparts in Guangzhou and Shanghai. Jointly built by the MOC and the local government, the NCEC (Tianjin) has a total construction area of 1.38 million square meters, featuring exhibition, conference, commerce, office, hotel and other functions.


The second-phase exhibition hall and comprehensive supporting area will be put into use in 2022. After the completion of the project, it will become a green, intelligent and innovative exhibition complex with the largest exhibition scale in northern China, complete supporting facilities, first-class use experience and global leading standards.


The China Building Science Conference and Green Intelligent Building Expo will focus on green buildings' role in creating better life and achieving carbon-neutral goals. Over 150 forums will be held to discuss green and high-quality development in the construction sector.

52% Chinese companies may reduce investment in the US


About 74 percent of the Chinese companies said that the complex China-US relations top the most difficult challenges in conducting business in the US in 2020, almost staying the same as that of 2019, according to a survey the China General Chamber of Commerce - USA.  

The survey is titled Annual Business Survey on Chinese Enterprises in the US, which reflects on the US business environment and challenges encountered while Chinese businesses operating in the US. 


The concern, which had topped the list of difficulties in recent years under former Trump administration, shows no sign of a turning point under Biden administration which labels China as a "strategic competitor." According to the survey, most companies hold conservative views on the forecast of China-US relations, citing fraying relations as the biggest impediment to their future investment plan in the US.

As part of the ongoing effort to restrict China's rise, the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee has scheduled a meeting next Wednesday to consider sweeping legislation to boost economic competitiveness and push Beijing on human rights. 


What's noteworthy in the survey is that 43 percent of the Chinese companies reported cultural conflicts, including anti-Asia/China sentiment and operation management styles, are emerging as their second-biggest concern in 2020. In 2019 before the US hyped the coronavirus origin issue, the ratio only stood at 28 percent.

Also, the tariff war continues to weigh on the operation of Chinese businesses in the US in 2020, inflating their cost on importing finished products and sourcing from upstream supplies. The survey showed that some 78 percent of respondents reported being negatively impacted and others expect long-term implications.
While some investors remain indifference to trade relations, they took note of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) which screens foreign investment, criticizing the organizations as "politicized and opaque." And nearly one-third of survey respondents said that it will have an adverse impact on their investment plans in the US. 


Taken together, these difficulties are leading to an atmosphere that would further deter Chinese investment, and analysts said in the long-term, the trend will drive up inflation in the US and make US consumers suffer from higher spending on daily necessities. 

The survey showed that 52 percent of the respondents said that uncertainty in the policy environment could lead to their reduced investment in the US. In light of the trade disruption that poses threat to supply chain management, 30 percent of respondents impacted by the decline in trade relations said they will delay or cancel future investment in the US, and 44 percent intend to increase investment in other regions, including Asia, Europe and South America.

Tesla to 'recall' over 285,000 cars in China due to faulty software



Electric car giant Tesla will "recall" over 285,000 cars from the Chinese market after an investigation found issues with its assisted driving software that could cause road collisions, a government regulator announced late on Friday.

Tesla would contact affected users to upgrade their vehicle's software remotely for free, a State Administration of Market Regulation notice said, adding that it affects some imported and domestically manufactured Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
"The recall plan was filed with the State Administration of Market Regulation, and it was decided to recall the following vehicles from today," SAMR said.


"Due to issues with the cruise control system... the driver can easily activate the cruise control function by mistake," the Chinese government agency said in the notice.

"A sudden increase in vehicle speed will occur, which could... in extreme cases, cause a collision, posing safety hazards."
车辆可能突然加速,特斯拉召回28万辆进口和国产汽车
市场监管总局6月26日消息,日前,特斯拉汽车(北京)有限公司、特斯拉(上海)有限公司根据《缺陷汽车产品召回管理条例》和《缺陷汽车产品召回管理条例实施办法》的要求,向国家市场监督管理总局备案了召回计划,决定自即日起召回以下车辆。
一、特斯拉汽车(北京)有限公司
召回2019年1月12日至2019年11月27日期间生产的部分进口Model 3电动汽车,共计35665辆。
二、特斯拉(上海)有限公司
召回2019年12月19日至2021年6月7日期间生产的部分国产Model 3电动汽车,共计211256辆;2021年1月1日至2021年6月7日期间生产的部分国产Model Y电动汽车,共计38599辆。
本次召回范围内的车辆由于主动巡航控制系统问题,易造成驾驶员在以下情形误激活主动巡航功能:当车辆处于D挡,驾驶员再次拨动右侧控制杆试图切换挡位时;在车辆急转弯,驾驶员误触碰并拨动右侧控制杆时等。主动巡航控制被误激活后,如果车辆设置的巡航速度不是当前车速,且当前车速低于设定速度时,车辆会加速到设定速度,出现车辆速度突增情形,会影响驾驶员的预期并导致车辆操控误判,极端情况下可能导致车辆发生碰撞,存在安全隐患。
