Tibet is Reopen for Foreigners Now



The Tibet autonomous region opened for tourism to foreigners in China.

The region was closed off to international travelers last year due to COVID-19.


To enter, travelers must show proof of a Chinese work certificate 28 days before entering and a negative nucleid acid test seven days before departure. 


If you’re interested in visiting the region, you’ll have to book with a travel agency and apply for a Tibet Entry Permit. The permit usually takes three to seven days to process and requires a valid passport, a scanned copy of your visa and a scanned copy of your certificate of employment. 


Expats in China usually have already obtained the work visa (also called Z visa) or residence permit. In this case, you still need to get the Tibet Travel Permit to visit Tibet. To apply for the Tibet permit, you need to prepare the following documents:

1. A screenshot of the health code of where you live now.

2. Clear photo or scanned copy of passport

3. Clear photo or scanned copy of Chinese Visa or Residence Permit

4. Recent covid-19 Test result copy (suggested within 7 days) (need to provide when applying permit)

5. Clear photo or scanned copy of Work certificate 

6. A certificate issued by the applicant company or neighborhood committee to prove that he/she hasn't left China within the last 28 days. This information can be written on the same document as the Work Certificate Letter.


Noted: Journalists and diplomats cannot travel to Tibet as ordinary tourists.

Independent travel in Tibet is not allowed.

在华外国人入藏旅游再次开放

外国人(不包括记者及外交官)进藏旅游必须申请入藏许可证。

外国人申请进藏签证的手续:你只要将你的本国国籍护照和中国签证的彩色扫描件等信息交给为您办理进藏旅游手续的西藏当地旅行社就可办理进藏签证。

备注:持有外国国籍护照的游客与中国台湾同胞游客,进藏需要办理入藏许可证,港澳人士进藏无需办理入藏许可证。

如何办理“外国人入藏旅游批准函”?
签证:境外旅游者首先需要在所在地的中国驻外使(领)馆办理中国签证,与中国缔结免签证协定的国家除外。

申请入藏旅游批准函:
请将您的基本信息(包括姓名、国籍、年龄、性别、职业、护照号码)、进藏路线、大致游程时间、旅行意向、联系电话等资料经西藏当地的旅行社提交给西藏旅游局行管处审批手续。

在收到客人的护照和签证复印件后通常可即刻签出“外国人入藏旅游批准函”。虽然只需要7个工作日审核签发此入藏批准函,但考虑到与客人相关的机票、酒店、向导与车辆等旅游事项的安排预定工作,请尽可能早一些办理申请手续,以便就入藏旅行线路、时间、地点等有关资料得到相应确认。

自2007年7月1日起,西藏旅游局驻各地办事处停止办理外国人入藏函,统一由西藏自治区旅游局行业管理处审批手续,加注防伪标识,游客可以通过西藏的任何一家国际旅行社组团的形式代为办理。


China Southern Airlines to Be China’s First to Test IATA Covid Pass



China Southern Airlines will be the first Chinese airlines to test a Covid-19 travel pass launched by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the airline said.

The IATA Travel Pass is a mobile app that helps travelers store and share verified certificates for Covid-19 tests or vaccinations. China Southern, China’s biggest airline, signed an agreement with the IATA, and the app is now in the testing stage, the airline said. No official launch date was given.


It will promote the integration of China’s international travel health certificates with international standards and prevent the importation of Covid-19 cases, the airline said.


No other Chinese airline has disclosed plans to join the IATA Travel Pass. As the app involves information on flight tickets and vaccination certificates, testing will need to win approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and other authorities.


IATA launched the travel pass in November 2020. Currently, more than 70 airlines around the world are trying or promising to test IATA travel passes, including Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, British IAG Airlines Group, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and Air New Zealand.

国际航协旅行通行证(IATA Travel Pass)是一款移动应用程序,旨在帮助旅客根据政府关于国际旅行新冠病毒检测或疫苗接种的要求管理其旅行健康证明。国际航协旅行通行证,提供各国政府关于新冠肺炎病毒检测或疫苗信息的规定与要求,且经旅客授权,可用于管理和验证政府、航空公司、检测机构和旅客之间必要的核酸检测或新冠疫苗信息安全传输。使旅客在出发地就能找到符合目的地检测和疫苗接种标准的新冠肺炎病毒检测机构,并使授权的检测机构与旅客,旅客与航空公司和当局之间能共享检测或疫苗接种证书,实现数字化无接触、轻松安全旅行。

国际航协旅行通行证采用符合全球标准的高级别数据隐私保护与安全技术。旅客始终可以在保护其隐私的情况下自主控制个人数据。旅客不仅可在App上轻松安全地管理旅行健康证明,政府亦可信赖App中旅客申报的病毒检测或疫苗接种状态,杜绝现行纸质核酸检测证书的造假现象。在旅客量激增时,国际航协旅行通行证可有效提升航空公司、机场和出入境边检部门的效率,大幅减少国际旅客在机场的等待时间,有利于全球航运业早日恢复正常。

Xiaomi Passes Apple To Become World’s No. 2 Smartphone Supplier in 2nd Quarter



A banner quarter for Xiaomi helped the Chinese mobile company snag the No. 2 spot in global smartphone shipments, according to newly posted Q2 numbers from research firm Canalys. It’s pretty stunning growth for the company, up 83% year-over-year for the quarter and capturing 17% of the global market.

The surge puts Xiaomi at No. 2, globally, behind only Samsung’s 19% by a relatively small margin. Apple is at third with 14% (after its own solid growth has slowed), while fellow Chinese manufacturers Oppo and Vivo round out the top five at 10% a piece.


Huawei, of course, is nowhere to be seen among the top companies. It’s a pretty massive drop, due in no small part to blacklisting that has both barred the company from certain markets (namely, the U.S.) and cut off access to U.S. mobile products, including Google’s Android and various apps.

Canalys cites aggressive pricing as a big factor in Xiaomi’s success — particularly contrasted with premium priced offerings from Samsung and Apple.


“It is now transforming its business model from challenger to incumbent, with initiatives such as channel partner consolidation and more careful management of older stock in the open market,” the analyst firm’s Research Manager Ben Stanton said in a release. “It is still largely skewed toward the mass market, however, and compared with Samsung and Apple, its average selling price is around 40% and 75% cheaper respectively. So a major priority for Xiaomi this year is to grow sales of its high-end devices, such as the Mi 11 Ultra.”

小米手机销量超越苹果首次成为全球第二

全球著名市场调研机构Canalys发布手机市场第二季度排名,小米公司在全球智能手机市场占有率达到17%,超越苹果晋升全球第二,同比高速增长83%。

Canalys称,小米已经完成从挑战者到市场主导者的业务升级,并继续提升整合运营商市场和公开市场的渠道势能。Canalys认为,小米的新目标,就是取代三星成为全球最大的智能手机供应商。

小米集团创始人、董事长兼CEO雷军在全员信中表示,成为世界第二是小米发展史上的重大里程碑,经过五年的艰苦卓绝的补课,小米的产品能力已实现了巨大提升,在高端市场打开局面并站稳了脚跟。下一步,小米将进一步夯实核心能力,尽快真正坐稳世界第二。

据悉,小米与苹果的全球前三之争已持续多个季度。在2020年Q4,小米手机全球出货量4340万台,同比增长31.5%,首次超越苹果,重返全球第三。随后的2021年Q1,苹果以15%的市场份额升至全球第二,小米以14%的份额紧随其后,其全球出货量达到4940万台,同比增长69.1%。
