A 22-month-old baby has been tested for Covid 74 times since birth

A toddler in a town has endured four lockdowns since September 2020 and has been tested for coronavirus 74 times since he was born.
The town of Ruili sits in the west of Yunnan province and shares a border with Covid-hit Myanmar. It has been subject to four strict lockdowns since September of last year, lasting about seven months in total.

Since July, 716 people returning to Ruili from other places have tested positive for Covid-19, the Ruili government said.

Covid-19 tests have become a part of people’s daily lives, as a negative test result from within the last seven days is needed for entering public facilities.

“My [22-month-old] son has undergone a Covid test 74 times,” one jade businessman told the media on October 29. “[We] seldom go out, and my son basically just stays home. We’re afraid [of the coronavirus]. You never know where you might be infected.”

Since school has been suspended, the man said he has been trying to homeschool his son.
Another resident said he is being tested about two times every three days.

“We are all used to it, and we are definitely having a hard time [under the lockdown],” he said.

On October 29, Ruili deputy mayor Yang Mou acknowledged the “difficult times experienced by the masses” at a press conference on the pandemic.
“Since Ruili continues to have daily cases, there is still a risk of the virus spreading,” he said.

Chinese mainland reports 43 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, 

12 were reported in Hebei

The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 43 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.
Of the new local cases, 12 were reported in Hebei, eight in Heilongjiang, seven in Sichuan, five in Liaoning, four in Gansu, three in Jiangxi, and two each in Henan and Yunnan.
Also reported were 19 new imported cases, of which four each were reported in Guangdong and Guangxi, two each in Tianjin, Shanghai, Sichuan and Yunnan, and one each in Beijing, Fujian and Shaanxi, according to the commission.


No new suspected cases or new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Monday, said the commission.

河南8例，其中周口市5例、郑州市3例；
江西6例，均在上饶市；
云南5例，均在德宏傣族景颇族自治州。
国内现有6个高风险地区、67个中风险地区。
四川：成都+7，现“1传13”
11月8日0-24时，四川新增新型冠状病毒肺炎确诊病例9例，其中本土确诊病例7例。本次疫情成都累计报告23例确诊病例。
23名确诊病例中，12名为病例6的密接者，其中包括4名家人（妻子、女儿、岳父母）、4名同事和4名同楼栋邻居（成华区理工东苑小区西区）。
此外，病例16也与病例6是同楼栋邻居，11月5日其居住小区纳入封控，11月7日核酸检测阳性，被诊断为无症状感染者。

New Oriental closes 1,500 training centers

China’s biggest private tuition provider is closing the vast majority of its branches, New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc.’s founder said, in the wake of new regulations that ban many in the sector from making a profit.
Almost 1,500 of its training centers are to be closed, Yu Minhong said during a livestreaming session on Douyin Sunday. According to media reports, the company had 1,547 training centers and 122 schools nationwide as of May.

The closing branches have donated more than 73,000 desk and chair sets to rural schools, the New York-listed company said.

Many tuition companies have been affected by sweeping reforms launched in July to ease the burden on students, which bar for-profit tutoring in core curriculum subjects, including Chinese, foreign languages and mathematics.

The number of tutoring companies in business has fallen in several cities, according to a string of reports released by China’s Ministry of Education last month. Around two-thirds of the tutoring institutions operating in Beijing have closed since July.
