Great British Cheese & Butter!



Another day, another great new product range from Breakfast Champion. Following on from our new Gourmet Sausage Range, today we've teamed up with Somerdale to bring you a choice selection of their best British cheeses and butters that you can get your laughing gear around.  

So, without further ado, feast your eyes (and then your stomach) on our new Great British Cheese & Butter Range. Welcome back to flavour country...


1. Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton


Many cheeses from across the world lay a claim to the title, but a good Blue Stilton is easily the King of Cheeses! There are other blues, and to be fair I love them all, but Stilton is a cut above. Subtle, rather than hitting you like a sledgehammer (hi Danish Blue), solid enough to have distinct graining rather than just turning into a sludge two minutes after leaving the fridge (hey Gorgonzola/St. Agur).

It's the best of all worlds, and lasts about half an hour in any house I have a part in living in.


2. Westminster Cheddars!


Whilst a good Blue Stilton is, without doubt or challenge, the absolute monarch of cheeses, cheddar takes a slightly different crown. If I had to have only one cheese for the rest of my life it would be cheddar, its versatility is its strength. 


When aged for different lengths of time it is great for everything from Cheese on Toast or Macaroni Cheese to topping a pizza, or even just standing its ground amongst other prtenders on a quality cheese board (my personal approach would be to break off a chunk of Vintage, spread some marmite on it, and eat it as is).


With that in mind we have three cheddars of different ripeness available for you. Farmhouse (aged for 10 months), Sharp (12 months), and Vintage (15 months). 

3. Somerdale Cheddar Cheese Slices!


For those of you looking to barbecue this summer (once the endless rains have ceased; forecast for next week looks promising) we have something you can throw on top of an Aussie Beef Burger or six. These pre sliced portions of red cheddar will knock those processed cheese slices out of the park every time. So, get your orders in, and fire up those coals!

4. Somerdale Pure British Butters


Basics, get them right and everything else will follow. The main tenet of British cuisine is butter in/with everything; fry in it, add it to pastries, spread it on anything that even looks like bread, add it to puddings. Deliciousness is directly proportional to % butter content.
