Finally! New WeChat Update Allows Us to Use This on Our Moments!

GiC Team GICexpat 2020-01-21

On December 23, WeChat’s iOS version released an official 7.0.9 update packed with new features.

1. Emojis and GIFs as comments in your Moments

Give your comments on WeChat Moments a funnier twist by adding your favorite Emojis and GIFs!

For example:

Unlock all your emotions with this new feature!

If you’re having trouble seeing what they look like because of their small size, a long-press will do the trick and magnify the GIF.

Liking what your friends have shared in their comments? You can add their GIFs to your sticker collection by long pressing them and hitting “Add”. That’s it!

We’re ready to bet your comments are going to be spammed with stickers from all your friends! Time to see who has the best collection.

Android users can benefit from this update by clicking the following link.

2. "Quote”

You can now quote a text or link as an attachment to a message. In your chat thread, press and hold the message you’d like to refer to and hit "Quote". This new function supports text, images, videos, links, mini-programs, and other types of content.

Example:

After hitting “Quote”, you can add a personal message before sending it to your group thread.

Click the small line and you can see the links, pictures or whatever you quote below the message you sent.

3. Privacy

Privacy settings in WeChat’s latest version offer more flexibility to users in terms of what their contacts can and cannot see, including chats, Moments, WeRun activity, Time Capsules, etc.

Following this update, a few netizens inquired about other features they’ve been waiting to see:

“When will WeChat allow us to upload original photos and 60-second long videos on our Moments?”

“Why can others comment on my Moments and I don’t have the right to delete it?”

“When will we be able to delete a chatbox while keeping the chat history?”

What about you? Are you happy with this new update?
