2020 Is Approaching!Don't Forget to Do This Before the Year Ends

There are only 28 days left until the end of this year!

There’s just about enough battery left to use in 2019.

Did you reach the goals you’d set out to accomplish for this year?

While you may be all set on the personal side, there’s still one thing left for you to do: 

use up your annual leave!

If you have any paid annual leave left in the tank, it’s time for you to take one final trip away from the office or to treat yourself with a staycation! 

However, be mindful that it does not carry over to the following year. Therefore, it’s important to check how many you have used already this past year, and whether you have enough time to use whatever is left before the New Year rings!

Check with your HR department and team about any potentially conflicting dates over the next 3-4 weeks. If everything checks out, book away!

Do note that if a company cannot arrange annual leave because of the employee’s demanding responsibilities, they may proceed with the cancellation of the annual leave upon the employee's approval. In this case, the employer must pay their employee 300% of their daily salary based on the number of extra working days he or she was required to work.

According to the relevant provisions of the state, expats working in China are entitled to paid annual leave. If you find out that your company does not provide such benefits, please call the National Labor Bureau by dialing 12333; if you can't speak Chinese, please ask your Chinese friends or colleagues for help.

On a side note:

In October 2019, the ministry of human resources and social security required that by the end of 2019, pension insurance benefits should be paid using social security cards.

Remember to take a valid ID card and your social security card to the bank where it was issued, and active the card before you can receive your pension.
