To a friend, you can give something useful according to his needs. You can also give a personalized gift, based on his character and tastes.
杯子:谐音“一辈子”,
“to be together forever”
Cup: In Chinese, the phrase "one cup 一杯子" has the same pronunciation as "一辈子", “to be together forever”.
鞋:意味着让别人离开
Shoes: giving shoes to someone means you want him to go away.
送礼以红包为宜,如果是关系特别好的朋友,可以另外准备一些工艺品类的结婚礼物。
Red envelopes are recommended as wedding gifts. If you are a close friend of the couple, you can also prepare some extra gifts such as handicrafts.
