Which Province in China has the Best "Stinky Food"?

On April 16, CBNData and Taobao foodies jointly released their data report of Taobao foodies in 2018. 



The report shows that in recent years, Chinese people have been drawn more towards foods labeled as “stinky”.  While the number of “stinky food lovers” has grown all over China, one province really sticks out.


Guangxi!



In recent years, Guangxi has achieved an excellent rapport with Chinese foodies. There are so many delicious dishes in Guangxi cuisine.

In spring and autumn, lemon duck is especially suitable for eating. Full of flavors from sweet to sour, the essence of this refreshing dish is the pickled lemons, green plums, buckwheat, sour ginger, and peppers. 


酸 嘢( suān yě)



“嘢” is Nanning accent, meaning "thing”, 酸 嘢 meaning all kinds of sour things.


Nanning, located in southern , is hot and humid all year round, so the locals eat sour food to quench their thirst and refresh themselves. Sour food is a historic Han snack; fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables soaked with capsicum anise are some local favorites!

Rice noodles are quite famous in Guangxi and there are various types available but in Nanning, one is close to their cultural heritage; Nanning’s fresh extrusion rice noodles. 



The hand-made rice paste is freshly squeezed and freshly cooked, with crushed peanuts, scallions, basil and a spoonful of minced meat. 


撩(liāo)螺 (luó)



"撩(liāo)" refers to the action of digging snails.

The scallop is an indispensable main course for the night markets in Nanning.

Compared with dumplings in northern China, the Guangxi flour dumplings have thinner and more elastic skin. The filling is delicious and sweet, served with a spoonful of yellow sauce.



If you go to Nanning for delicious food, don't miss Zhongshan road! (Many cities in China have a Zhongshan Lu haha)



In addition to Zhongshan road, there are many other places to experience amazing food in Nanning; Jianzheng Road, Nongyuan Road, the South Rail Night Market, and Water Street.


Of course, Nanning is not the only city that showcases Guangxi cuisine. There are also many other delicious foods to try in Wuzhou, Yulin, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Liuzhou, Hezhou, Pingle, Zhongshan, Guilin, Baise, Donglan, and Nandan!
