A 70-Year-Old Chinese Grandma Took Over NY Fashion Week!

Crystal Huang GICexpat 2020-01-16

A large number of Chinese young people born in the 1990s like to say how fat, bald, and “old” they are on social media now.

But there’s an actual old model who’s recently gained a lot of popularity on Douyin app.

18 seconds of walking video, a total of more than 2 million likes now.

The video shows her with silver hair and wearing a beautiful handmade costume.

On the runway, she walks with confidence and agility.

There was no sense of age in her.

The name of this old model is Han bin.

She’s 70 years old.

When she was young, she worked in an ivory carving factory in Beijing.

After retiring at 60, she began her second life.

Not only did she sign up for model training classes and take part in competitions, but she won the "Miss World Tourism Pageant.”

She also became the first Chinese senior model to walk during the New York fashion week!!

She showed so much elegance on the international stage that we’re all so proud of her and inspired by her.

Han bin said:

“There are many young Chinese models at International Fashion Week, and here I am standing on the catwalk to let more people in the world see the presence of the elderly from China."

But other than for grandma Han, there are many outstanding "aging men and women", both in fashion taste and mentality.

Take, for example, Liu Sheng, who turned 61 years old this year.

This year, he also broke out into the world.

Not only for a domestic brand of clothing spokesmen but he was also invited to participate in the Milan spring and summer fashion week.

Nick Wooster

He's 168cm tall but he knows how to dress properly.

What he has been insisting on:

"At any age, we should do a little bit of hard work to make a big change in your image."

Next, we want to introduce Lyn Slater who is 65 years old.

Fashion Lyn is an American college professor!

Because one day she was waiting for a friend to go to lunch when it was New York fashion week, a passing photographer thought she was a fashion icon and kept taking photos of her.

Lyn's gone viral since then.

She was influenced by fashion from childhood.

So she chose to be a fashion blogger after retirement.

And she has repeatedly called out on social media:

" Anyone can have their own fashion insights and voice whenever they want.

So age is not important, it's just a number.

A young and fresh soul is a lot more valuable than anything else.
