Recently, we are suffering from heavy rain because of  the typhoon and rainy season(雨季yǔ jì). How do we express different kinds of rain in Chinese?

máo mao yǔ 

毛  毛  雨 

Drizzle

Bié dān xīn ， zhǐ shì máo mɑo yǔ 。 

别  担  心  ，      只  是  毛  毛  雨 。 

Don't worry, it's just drizzling.

xiǎo yǔ 

小   雨

Light rain

Wài mian zài xià xiáo yǔ 。 

外  面   在  下  小   雨 。 

It's raining lightly outside.

zhōnɡ yǔ 

中    雨 

Modrate rain

Yǔ bú shì hěn dà ， zhǐ shì zhōnɡ yǔ 。 

雨 不 是  很  大 ， 只  是  中    雨 。 

It's not heavy rain, just moderate.

dà yǔ 

大 雨 

Heavy rain

Xiàn zài yǔ xià de hěn dà ， nǐ bié chū qu le 。 

现   在  雨 下  得 很  大 ， 你 别  出  去 了 。 

It's raining in sheets, don't go out.

bào yǔ 

暴  雨

rainstorm

Tiān qì yù bào shuō mínɡ tiān huì xià  bào yǔ 。

天气预报说明天会下暴雨 。

The weather forecast said that there would be a rainstorm tomorrow.

zhèn yǔ 

阵   雨

shower

Zhè shì zhèn yǔ ， hěn kuài jiù tínɡ le 。 

这  是  阵   雨 ， 很  快   就  停   了 。 

It's a sudden shower, and will stop soon.

léi zhèn yǔ 

雷  阵   雨 

thunder shower

Léi zhèn yǔ mǎ shànɡ jiù yào lái le 。 

雷  阵   雨 马 上    就  要  来  了 。 

A thunder shower is coming up soon.
