打卡dǎ kǎ : (of an employee) to clock on (or off); to check in 

打卡机 dǎ kǎ jī : time clock

1. 工作人员上下班时把考勤卡或手指放在打卡机上，记录下到达和离开公司的时间叫打卡。

Gōngzuò rényuán shàng xiàbān shí bǎ kǎoqín kǎ huò shǒuzhǐ fàng zài dǎkǎ jīshàng, jìlù xià dàodá hé líkāi gōngsī de shíjiān jiào dǎkǎ.

When an employee goes to work, he or she puts his timecard or his finger on the punch card machine and records the time of arrival and departure of the company.

For example:

1. 你们上班要打卡吗？

nǐmen shàngbān yào dǎkǎ ma？

Do you have to check in at work?

2. 糟了！我今天忘记打卡了。

Zāole! Wǒ jīntiān wàngjì dǎkǎ le.

Gosh! Today I forgot to punch in.

3. 别忘了打卡，要不然没有工资。

Bié wàngle dǎkǎ, Yào bùrán méiyǒu gōngzī.

Don’t forget to clock in, otherwise you don’t get paid.

4. 在生活中，也表示自我监督，养成一个好习惯，完成某个特定目标后进行记录。

Zài shēnghuó zhōng, yě biǎoshì zìwǒ jiāndū, yǎng chéng yīgè hǎo xíguàn, wánchéng mǒu gè tèdìng mùbiāo hòu jìnxíng jìlù.

In life, it also means self-monitoring, develop a good habit, and record after completing a specific goal.

For example:

早起打卡 zǎoqǐ dǎkǎ  : Check to get up early

学习打卡 xuéxídǎkǎ  :   Check to study

运动打卡 yùndòngdǎkǎ : Check to work out 

Zài wǎngluò zhōng yě biǎoshì dàole mǒu gè dìfāng huò yǒngyǒule mǒu gè shìwù (yībān huì xiàng tārén zhǎnshì).

On the internet, it also means that you have been to a place or owned something (usually shown to others).

For example:

打卡网红店 dǎkǎ wǎnghóngdiàn :  Check in popular shops

打卡西湖dǎkǎ xīhú :   Check in Westlake
