Important Health Rules Issued as Beijing Fights New Wave
The Chinese capital has issued new guidelines on COVID-19 containment, calling on its residents to continue wearing masks, socially distancing themselves, and washing their hands frequently to maintain the highest level of personal hygiene.
Masks have been made compulsory in hospitals, crowded scenic spots and public transports, according to Beijing's disease control and prevention center.
The guidelines stipulate that residents with respiratory infections should avoid going to public places. If they imperatively need to, they must wear masks to protect their own health and the health of those around them.
When in contact with raw meat, poultry, or seafoods, people are advised not to touch their mouths, nose, or eyes unless they have already wash their hands thoroughly.
Most importantly, people are reminded to always cooperate with health monitoring volunteers and staff in residential compounds, office environments, and other public facilities, following recent news of citizens getting into fights with staff for not complying with regulations.
Since June 11, the Chinese capital has seen a resurgence in locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases, prompting the municipal government to tighten containment measures.
