Ground-breaking technological inventions are often made by independent technology teams working in the laboratory for nights. However, with the same teams, the commercialisation of technological inventions is often difficult to accomplish, which leads to the situation that more and more technology guys stopped trying at an early stage.
而6月11日新一期飞仕创坛的Workshop研讨会现场,飞仕伯乐(中国)创始人兼CEO Michael Wang打破了这种思维定论,让现场的来宾重新理解了科研行业的创业与投资思路,使更多的科研型创始人洞见科研项目创业的可行之道。
Based on that topic, the workshop held by Fishburners on Sixth June came up with a different opinion. On the scene, Michael Wang, the founder and CEO of Fishburners, talked about his understanding of entrepreneurial and investment ideas in technology industry, enabling the audience to discover a viable way to found a technical company.
在2个小时的研讨中,我们的研讨会系统的梳理了科研项目创业的认知误区与痛点,结合自己看到的科研创投市场趋势、机遇、现状与大家逐一分享。
研讨现场互动频频,可见科研创业的艰难是无数前沿技术型项目的共同问题,也是当下科研型创始人感到最痛楚的一根鱼刺。
During the workshop for two hour, the misconceptions and pain points of technological entrepreneurship, trends, opportunities and the current situation of the scientific venture capital market were analyzed and shared one by one. The enthusiastic response and frequent interaction on the scene, has shown about public’s attention to the common issues.
本质上,我们想要解答的问题——也是无数科研型人才感到头痛又无法解决的问题:Essentially, the question we want to answer, which is also the issues scientific research talents worry about but cannot solve is :How can creative projects avoid being aborted? And what can we do to solve it?“科研创业不只是前沿技术的应用,更是思维认知的跨越。”这是观众提问的环节中,Michael提到的重要观点。从学术思维到创业思维的转变,这背后的决策机制其实是有很大不同的。学术思维是单一方向的全力突破;而创业思维则是全领域的发展覆盖。
"Technological entrepreneurship is not just the application of cutting-edge technology, it's a leap in thinking and perception." Michael mentioned as above. And this is his important point of view.The decision-making mechanism behind this transmission from academic to entrepreneurial thinking is actually quite different. Academic thinking needs people to make an all-out breakthrough in a single direction; whereas entrepreneurial thinking highlights a full field of covering.而很多科研人员在观念中还是想在学术上有更进一步的作为,对创业的投入程度有犹豫和保留,这便是第二个创业误区:“科研创业需要投入大量的时间和精力。创始人应当全职投入创业,否则公司将很难经营。归根结底,全职的创始人始终是一个初创企业的灵魂。”
The second misconception is that many researchers still want to go further in their academic careers and have hesitations and reservations about the feasibility of investing in entrepreneurship. As Michael says,“Research entrepreneurship requires a significant investment of time and energy. Research founders should devote themselves full time to the venture, otherwise it will be difficult to run the company. Generally speaking, a full-time founder is always the soul of a startup." 这一环节还对是否外聘CEO、寻找商业经验丰富的合伙人、科研项目只差商业化这三个创业误区展开了激烈的讨论。即便身处台下也忍不住高声回应,加入这场交流盛宴。
Despite the second misconception, he also discussed on three typical misunderstandings: the need for an external CEO, finding a partner with business experience, and the thought that research projects are just short of commercialization. All of them earned a great response from the audience.
" 我应该何时开始创业? "也是本次参与研讨会嘉宾关注度较高的一个问题。Michael引用《荀子 · 王霸篇》中天时、地利、人和三个词," 当你发现了一个行业风口或是大趋势,你的技术或是技术的应用在这个风口下足够独特。而社会对你存在职位空缺,同时你自己的内心已经拥有了勇气、包容和学习力的时候,我认为,你就处在一个开始创业的最佳时机了。"
“When to start up?” is also a topic being attented. Michael use three words in Chinese ancient book <Xunzi> to answer that:“Tianshi, Dili, Renhe” which means favourable timing, geographical and human conditions in English.“I think you are in the best position to start a business when you have identified an industry trend or mega-trend. As your technology or application of technology is unique enough in this trend, there is a lack of position in the society, and you have the courage, tolerance and learning power within yourself.”

1.经过此次研讨会,我要理性思考并决定是否真正要创业了。2.技术思维到商业思维还是存在一定差异,需要通过实践去不断探索。3.科研人员本身对商业认识不深、经验不足,还需要社会环境的完善。4.联合创始人的股权架构设计为我们提供了很多思考。5.克制创新是一个很好的点,这可以大大延长企业的生命周期。6.科研课题设计的产品理想化太高,还需要不断的对项目进行实验。1. after this workshop, I have to think rationally and decide whether I really want to start a business or not.2. There is a difference between technical thinking and business thinking, which needs to be explored through practice.3. Technical talents themselves do not have a deep understanding of business and do not have enough experience, and they need to improve themselves.4. The design of the equity structure of the co-founders has provided us with instructions.5. Restraint in innovation is a good point, which can greatly extend the life cycle of a business.6. The product designed for the scientific research is too idealistic and needs constant experimentation to make it fit in business project.
