Professional Development: Teachers Are Lifelong Learners Too!

CIS教研日：老师也是终身学习者

共同为了孩子们更好的未来

Education is a learning cycle without an end. It does not stop after graduation, or when one finishes a course or degree. 

Today, teachers and staff stepped out of routine and became students! At CIS, we believe that continuing education, or what we call Professional Development (PD), helps our passionate and caring teachers improve their skills so as to ensure that our students benefit from stronger teaching practices. It also helps our teachers be more effective and fulfilled at various other aspects of their role, whether it be working with individual students or simply leading a class through an inquiry project. 

教育是一个无穷无尽的学习循环。不止于毕业，也不止于课程结束或者拿到一个学位。

今天，我们的教职工跳出自己的角色，成了学习者。在CIS，我们相信终身学习的力量，我们称之为专业发展（教研），帮助我们热情和关爱的教学团队提升技能，确保同学们能够受益于更有效的教学实践。教研还可以帮助老师们更有效地履行教师角色的方方面面，无论是一对一辅导，还是通过探究项目来引领学习。

Nurturing and guiding each student as they explore their talents and pursue their dreams is what every CIS teacher does every single day, and PD gives them another opportunity to ensure they have all the skills they need to fulfil our mission of raising future leaders. Moreover, it truly nurtures the holistic skills of our teachers to ensure that they have what it takes to become better mentors and more capable leaders, both today and in the future.

Today's PD day focused on three important topics that we strongly believe will benefit all CIS families: Engaging Home-School Communication, Learning to Lead English Learners, and of course, New Developments at CIS, including some very exciting plans that we can’t wait to share with you next month! Our Mandarin team also learnt alongside their peers from our sister school in Macau, giving them a chance to enhance their approaches to teaching. Here's to lifelong learning, no matter what one's age may be!

培养和指导每一个学生，让他们发掘自己的才能，追求自己的梦想，是每一位CIS教师每天都在做的事情，而教研为他们提供了非常好的机会，确保他们拥有所需的技能，实现培养未来领袖的使命。它让教师团队真正做到全面发展，拥有成为更好的教育者和领导者所需要的智识，无论是现在还是未来。

今天的教研日集中在三个与CIS社区息息相关的核心主题：家校沟通，如何帮助英语语言提升学生，当然还有 CIS 的升级发展规划，其中包括一些非常激动人心的计划，我们迫不及待地想在下个月与您分享！中文教学团队还与澳门姊妹学校共同学习，提高教学方法。无论年龄大小，我们都是终身学习者。

PD is of utmost importance for developing and to grow not just as an educator but as an individual. Today’s PD focused a lot on ELL learners and how we can assist them with the necessary tools needed. It is also important not to stagnate in your profession and the school provides us with the necessary training to make a difference in every child’s learning on a daily basis.
