CIS@FIRST® LEGO® League: The Power of Teamwork

Why is teamwork important? How can the power of teamwork lead to collaborative wins? Watch this short video to see how our students produced innovative solutions to complex problems and worked efficiently toward shared goals!

Over the last three months, 2 teams of 8 students in Grades 4-8 participated in a global STEAM competition, among 6 other teams in South China. The theme of this year’s FIRST® LEGO® League Competition is ‘Cargo Connect’. Students had to design, assemble and test their LEGO robots to deliver packages and complete certain tasks along the way. They learned about how cargo is transported, sorted, sanitized and delivered to its destination, and showcased their teamwork as they built a product for the future of transportation. In the COVID era, this non-touch delivery solution is much more meaningful than ever. 

在过去的三个月里，我们4-8年级的8名学生组成2支队伍，和其他6支华南赛区的队伍一起参加了全球创客比赛。今年的FIRST® LEGO® League 联赛的主题是物流联运，学生需要设计、组装和测试自己的乐高机器人，用于递送包裹，并在途中完成特定的任务。在这个过程中，他们学习货物是如何运输、分类和交付到目的地的，并展示了他们设计未来物流产品的创客技能。在新冠大流行时代，这种零接触物流解决方案比以往任何时候都更有意义。

Learning robotics inspires a lifetime love of collaboration, learning, creativity and logical reasoning. It also provides the technical and interpersonal skills that all young people need to meet future workforce demands and to solve what could be the world’s next big problems. Through STEAM learning at CIS, core competencies are developed, which help nurture every student’s potential to be a leader, an innovator and an inspiration while becoming the critical thinkers and creative problem solvers of tomorrow. Remember, talent may win a  challenge, but teamwork wins championships!

学习机器人能激发同学们对合作、学习、创造力和逻辑推理的终生热爱。它还能够提升青少年成长所需的技术和人际交往技能，以满足未来职业的需求，并鼓励他们解决可能影响一个时代的“大”问题。CIS的创客教育旨在提升同学们的核心能力，培养每个学生成为领导者、创新者，发掘他们的创意潜能，成长为未来的批判性思考者和创造性的问题解决者。别忘了，才华也许赢得挑战，但团队合作才能赢得冠军！

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16 through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together. 

FIRST® LEGO® League是针对4-16岁少年儿童的科学、技术、工程和数学（STEM）项目，通过趣味的、兴奋的动手学习。参赛者在老师指导下，参与全球机器人项目，收获在现实世界中的解决真实问题的经验，帮助学生和教育者共同建设一个更美好的未来。
