03 本文作者简介
Dr. Esther Serwaah Afreh is a scholar in linguistics. She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Ghana, Legon. She holds an MA in Cognitive Linguistics from the University of Brighton, UK, and an MPhil in English from the University of Cape Coast. She has taught at KNUST for over ten years. She is the author of Grammar and Usage for Tertiary Students. Her research has concentrated on issues in Cognitive Semantics, that is, on conceptual content and its organisation in language. Her focus has been on how conceptual metaphor and related cognitive processes such as metonymy and blending are exploited for creative purposes in language use in Ghana. Her objective has been to demonstrate the relationship between language, culture and thought and also to reveal the existence of a coherent conceptual organisation in language, which derives from our bodily and social experience.
