The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), located in Hefei, Anhui Province, is a state key university under the direct administration of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Ministry of Education and Anhui Province. It focuses on frontier science and high technology, and combines medicine, characteristic management and humanities disciplines. Ranked in the "double first-class", "Project 985" and "Project 211", Selected in the "Qomolangma Plan", "Strong Foundation Plan", "111 Plan", "2011 Plan", Excellent Engineer Education and training Plan, Chinese Academy of Sciences Knowledge Innovation Project, National High-level University Construction public graduate Program, National Demonstration University to deepen the reform of Innovation and entrepreneurship education, Chinese government scholarship receiving colleges for international students, the first batch of degree authorized self-examination units. The school was founded in Beijing in September 1958. The first president of the school was Guo Moruo. After its establishment, CAS implemented the school-running policy of "the whole school runs the university, combining its departments", bringing together a group of famous scientists such as Yan Jici, Hua Luogeng, Qian Xuesen, Zhao Zhongyao, Guo Yonghuai, Zhao Jiuzhang, etc. The university was listed as a national key university in the second year of its establishment. In early 1970, the school moved to Hefei, Anhui Province, and started the second business; After 1978, the university set up a youth class, the first graduate school, the construction of a national science project, open to the world and other new measures; It is also the only university participating in the National Knowledge Innovation Project.
As of November 2019, the university has 23 schools (including 6 Schools of Science and Education Integration), 33 departments, the Institute of International Finance, the Institute of Advanced Technology, and the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC. It has 12 state-level research institutes, 4 state key scientific and technological infrastructure facilities and 62 provincial and ministerial key research institutes.
