CEIBS MBA Still #1 in Asia in Bloomberg Businessweek Ranking

CEIBS CEIBS 2023-03-11

CEIBS’ MBA programme has retained its #1 spot in Asia in the recently released Bloomberg Businessweek ranking. This is the second consecutive time – and fifth time overall – that the programme has claimed the top spot.

Wang Hong

CEIBS President

“In the face of the global epidemic and increasingly fierce competition in the field of business education, it is a significant achievement that our MBA programme has ranked first in Asia for the fifth time. This reflects both the strength and influence of the CEIBS MBA, and is a testament to the school’s academic spirit of ‘Conscientiousness, Innovation and Excellence.’ In the coming years, the programme will continue to develop and solidify its position amongst the best in the world.

Scheduled for release every two years, the ranking was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. However, the latest result now represents the second time that the programme has been ranked #1 in Asia in 2021, following the release of the Financial Times’ global MBA ranking in February, which also listed the CEIBS MBA as #7 in the world.

Ding Yuan

CEIBS Vice President and Dean

“The outstanding performance of our MBA programme in this ranking is thanks to the dedication of our faculty and staff and support of our alumni. The prospects for China’s economy are increasingly attractive to the international business community and have provided rich soil for the growth of Chinese management education. With the evolution of Chinese business and China’s growing economic strength, CEIBS will continue to attract more students who are in tune with the Chinese economy and contribute more Chinese wisdom to the wealth of global management knowledge.”

Survey responses from nearly 20,000 current students, alumni and employers were gathered and analysed to formulate the ranking results. Differing slightly from the US ranking, the Asia Pacific ranking’s methodology focuses on four indexes: compensation, learning, networking and entrepreneurship.

Over the past two years, the CEIBS MBA programme has performed well across all four indexes. Regarding the learning index, experiential and rigorous courses continue to form the backbone of the 16-month full-time programme, bringing MBA students closer to China’s business world through hands-on initiatives. This includes China modules from the Gobi Desert to Shenzhen and the Integrated China Strategy Project (ICSP). Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) content now occupy more than 20% of the teaching content in core modules and 40% of the teaching content in electives.

Shameen Prashantham

CEIBS Associate Dean and MBA Director

“The ranking comes as a timely reminder of the importance of understanding China, and Chinese business, in a global context. The success of our students and alumni inspire us to redouble our efforts to provide MBAs with the best platform to dive deeper into China, become globally more competitive, and, most importantly, to have the courage and leadership to tackle the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

Regarding the entrepreneurship and alumni indexes, MBA students can continue to take advantage of the school’s entrepreneurship lab (eLab), which has served as an important incubator for entrepreneurial ventures since 2015. Now with a global alumni base of over 25,000 professionals, the MBA programme continues to welcome back CEIBS graduates to support current students through a multifaceted mentorship programme which includes career mentors, entrepreneurship mentors and peer coaches.

The recently released CEIBS MBA Career Report also saw the graduate employment rate rise to 95.5% within three months of graduation – a 10-year high for the programme.
