Beijing hikes which are easy to get to!

Dominic Our Beijing 2021-11-05

Check out these parks for a nice hike that are easy to get to by subway and/ or taxi. Enjoy the cool Autumn air and enjoy hiking for a beautiful view and experience. These are all parks with paved paths and ticketed entrances, but all certainly worth a trip. Make sure you bring plenty of water and some tasty food for the journey.

If you have any further questions please feel free to drop us a message:

Yangtai Mountain

How to get there:

Subway: Bei'anhe Line 16 then short taxi ride

Taxi address: 阳台山自然风景区-正门

This is tagged as the Beijing balcony which looks over our Beijing. You can get fresh spring water which you can fill up to becoming strong and wise. It's quite a cool rugged path which makes it feel a bit different to the other parks.

I've put this one at the top of the list as it's a true trek, it can go on for hours and stretches back very far. I believe there's a spot you can even camp, but I didn't get that far. It's an hour to get to the spot with fresh spring water. Bring a big empty bottle to fill up.

Phoenix Mountain

How to get there:

Subway: Bei'anhe Line 16 then short taxi ride

Taxi address:凤凰岭自然风景区-东门

Very unique rock formations with some spots to challenge yourself with some steep options and cool tunnels. Easy to direct loop with plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the view.

3 hour loop without breaks. 4-6 hours with breaks.

Baiwangshan

How to get there:

Subway: Malianwa Line 16 then short walk west.

Taxi address: 百望山-东门

A not so hidden little gem, just north of the summer palace. It's a really easy hike to the top with lots of interesting things to discover (as you can see from their discovery in the photo) and being the most central it also has some great views across central Beijing.

40 mins to the top without breaks. 1-2 hours with breaks.

_________

Fragrant Hills

How to get there:

Subway: Fragrant Hills Line XJ

Taxi address: 香山公园-东门

Underrated spot. It's a good workout that everyone can do, with plenty of awesome spots to stop and enjoy the view, especially at the top. There's even chairlift, so absolutely anyone could go. Also one of the sweetest spots in Beijing for the autumn leaves.

1.5 hours to the top without breaks. 2-4 hours with breaks.

_________

West Mountain

How to get there:

Subway: Fragrant Hills, then a short taxi ride

Taxi address: 北京西山国家森林公园(北门)

Just below Fragrant Hills, this is one I recommend for a night time hike to see Beijing city center glowing in the dark. The top is a super photo spot usually with quite a few people, but it's still definitely worth the night hike.

1.5 hours to the top without breaks. 2-3 hours with breaks.

Badachu

How to get there:

Subway: Xihuang Cun Line 6, then a short taxi ride

Taxi address: 北京市八大处公园-南门

Easy hike to the top with the fastest toboggan ride down that I've been on in Beijing. Known as the 8 great sites because of 8 buddist temples and nunneries scattered across, it's a super chill place to enjoy a relaxing climb with lots of history.

40 mins to the top without breaks. 1-3 hours with breaks.
