Have you ever forgotten to switch off the TV or computer? In the nottoodistant future，we will be living in smart homes that integrate computers into the structure of the building itself. We will be using advanced technology every day for automatic control of just about everything in our home. The future home will use intelligent sensors to tell when go into an energyefficient mode after your leaving. Your home will also learn your daily routine and preferences, so everything will be ready for you the instant you get home each evening. In addition，your smart home will be monitoring your health by sending a warning and keeping constant track of your health for you if there is something abnormal or if you have a critical illness early on，such as cancer，and it can potentially save your life. Smart homes will be able to prevent serious damage from accidents. For example，if a water pipe starts leaking，or if there is a short in the electrical wiring, your smart home will detect it and provide you with the relevant information. This smart technology is not a fantasy. Many of these new innovations are already available and being used in some homes. In this sense, the home of tomorrow is already the home of today.

Should We Fight New Technology？
An accident has brought about the discussion—should we oppose and cease accepting new technology? Different people have different opinions about it. On the one hand，there are many people living happily in the absence of new technology around the world. The Amish, a group of Christians living in rural America，don’t own or drive cars，watch TV, or use the Internet. They advocate a simple life with an emphasis on hard work and appreciate the natural environment. On the other hand, new technology has provided people everywhere with many benefits over the years. For example, the Internet has made it possible for friends and family to keep in touch easily and it has also made finding opportunities in life much easier. Personally，I have benefited quite a lot from technological advances. Of course, when new technology changes the way we live，it can be a scary prospect. Nevertheless，I will always look on the positive side of change and accept it rather than resist it.
我们应该反对新技术吗?
一场事故引发了一场讨论——我们应该反对并停止接受新技术吗?不同的人对此有不同的看法。一方面，世界上有很多人在没有新技术的情况下快乐地生活着。阿米什人是一群生活在美国乡村的基督徒，他们既不拥有自己的车，也不开自己的车，看电视，也不使用互联网。他们提倡俭朴的生活，注重劳动，欣赏自然环境。另一方面，新技术多年来为各地的人们提供了许多好处。例如，互联网使朋友和家人很容易保持联系成为可能，也使在生活中得到机会变得容易得多。就我个人而言，我从技术进步中受益颇多。当然，当新技术改变我们的生活方式时，这可能是一个可怕的前景。尽管如此，我还是会看到改变积极的一面，接受它而不是抗拒它。
