REVIEW 活动回顾

On February 24, 2021, ISA Science City International School held a monthly Parent Engagement Workshop focusing on Language Learning at ISASC.

2021年2月24日,爱莎科学城学校举办了月度家长学习工作坊,围绕学校的语言教学,为到场家长带来了一场别开生面的学习与体验之旅。


The session was delivered by Ms. Debbie Tai, the World Languages Coordinator.  It provided parents with detailed information regarding the language learning programmes offered, their content, teaching methods and assessment format. 

本次工作坊由世界语言协调员Debbie女士主讲,围绕学校语言学习课程大纲、教学内容、教学方法及评估形式。



3 Programmes and 5 Pathways 

三大语言项目,五大学习课程

There are 3 language programmes with 5 learning pathways offered at ISASC: English, Chinese and ‘Mother Tongue’. Mother tongue is for students whose first language is not English or Chinese. These students are, with family support able to continue formally learning this language. 

爱莎科学城学校提供三大语言项目:英文项目、中文项目和母语支持项目(其中英文和中文项目采用分级教学,分别开设“语言与文学”及“语言习得”课程)。母语支持项目专为母语为非中英文的学生开设,家长可向学校提出上课申请,学校将给予充分支持。

In Early Years, teachers use the “immersion method” of language teaching to provide children with a relaxing, engaging, and fun learning environment. In Primary and Secondary School, students learn English and Chinese through a systematic learning model using level-based teaching methods with set teaching hours.

在幼儿阶段,老师采用 "浸入式教学法 "进行语言教学,为孩子们提供一个轻松愉快、渐入佳境的学习环境。在中小学阶段分层教学法,学生通过系统的学习模式在特定的教学时间内学习英文和中文。

3 Tiers of Curriculum Documents 三层课程大纲

- Tier 1: High level scope and sequence documents,  These comprise an overview of topic content, learning outcomes and, assessment criteria.

   第一层:高度概括教学内容,包括各阶段主题内容、学习成果和评估标准概述。

- Tier 2: Unit plans, for specific topics to be assessed.

   第二层:单元计划,用于评估特定主题。

- Tier 3: lesson plans, guiding what is taught on a day-to-day basis.

   第三层:课程计划,指导日常教学内容。


3 Domains of Language Learning 三条语言学习路径

- Learning the language 学习语言

  example: learning new vocabulary, basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

   例:学习新词汇、基本听说读写能力

- Learning through the language 通过语言进行学习

  example: reading the newspaper to learn about a topic, preparing an oral presentation.

   例:通过阅读报刊了解某个主题知识,准备口头演讲

- Learning about the language 学习语言相关知识

  example: exploring the genres of texts, the skills of writing and practicing developing skills in writing a critique.

   例:欣赏不同文学体裁及写作手法,通过写论文提高拓展能力。

Teamwork Task 小组合作

During the workshop at one stage, parents were divided into different groups, collaborating with each other to finish a small “task” for better understanding about their children’s language learning. 

在工作坊的其中一个环节中,家长们被分成不同的小组,通过相互配合完成一个“任务”,以便更好地了解孩子的语言学习情况。

Debbie Tai is an experienced, focused and passionate IB language educational leader who is committed to bilingual education in international school management, authentic leadership and curriculum development.

Debbie Tai是一位经验丰富,专注且对国际文凭IB语言教学充满热情的教育领导者,她积极投身于国际学校管理、诚信领导力和双语课程的开发。


Debbie joins ISA Science City having most recently served as the Enhanced Language Program Coordinator at Wesley College in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to this, she was the Head of PYP Chinese at Discovery College in Hong Kong, and the Chairperson for Primary Chinese Curriculum Committee at ESF (English Schools Foundation, Hong Kong). Debbie continues to be a highly respected member of the IB Educator Network (IBEN), consulting as an IB workshop leader for teacher training and a Curriculum internationally.

在加入爱莎科学城之前,Debbie任职于澳大利亚墨尔本的卫斯理学院,担任强化语言课程协调员。再之前,曾任香港智新书院国际文凭小学项目(PYP)中文课程部门负责人,也是英基学校(ESF)小学汉语课程委员会主席。Debbie同时还是IB教育者网络(IBEN)备受推崇的成员之一,作为IB培训官,为全球的教师开展培训以及提供课程方面的咨询。
