Ἡροδότου Ἁλικαρνησσέος ἱστορίης ἀπόδεξις ἥδε, ὡς μήτε τὰ γενόμενα ἐξ ἀνθρώπων τῷ χρόνῳ ἐξίτηλα γένηται, μήτε ἔργα μεγάλα τε καὶ θωμαστά, τὰ μὲν Ἕλλησι τὰ δὲ βαρβάροισι ἀποδεχθέντα, ἀκλεᾶ γένηται, τά τε ἄλλα καὶ δι᾽ ἣν αἰτίην ἐπολέμησαν ἀλλήλοισι.
This is the demonstration of the inquiry of Herodotus of Halicarnassus, so that things done by man not be forgotten in time, and that great and marvelous deeds, some displayed by the Hellenes, some by the barbarians, not lose their glory, including among others what was the cause of their waging war on each other.

展品介绍：入门，便携。这一版本其实并不常用于做研究，而是适合收藏的毛边书，面向大众读者。译者Tom Holland为国内读者所熟悉，他的《卢比孔河》被译为中文。为该版本写导论和注释的是剑桥大学荣誉退休教授，斯巴达史重要研究者Paul Cartledge。他十分擅长讲故事，在英国为大众史学做出了重要的贡献，并出版了许多通识读物，例如VSI （牛津通识读本）《古希腊》（Ancient Greece）。他的《斯巴达人》、《亚历山大大帝》等通识读物皆已被翻译为中文。他的最新通识读物《忒拜》一书即将面世。

展品介绍：较新的译本，翻译十分贴近原文，入门部分介绍详细，呈现出希罗多德的方法论，不过导言中遗漏了费林（Detlef Fehling）这般重要的学者。但参考书目仍不够完整。地图也不够完整。
