BANK自豪宣布：我们位于上海市中心安福路298号的新空间现已对外开放。尽管，对于被从原空间意外驱逐，我们依然感到难过，BANK的搬迁宣告了一个大胆的新开始——伴随着有所改进、愈发成熟、但依旧颇具颠覆性的空间和计划。过去在外滩，我们的个性有一部分是源自所在建筑自身的魅力；而在安福路——上海小资文化的核心地带——我们在地下，一个多年未使用的工业地下室空间。空间不仅地理位置极其便利，更富有戏剧性，历史性和某种性的魅力，希望大家会喜欢。
Dear Friends,
BANK is proud to have found an exciting new venue at 298 Anfu Lu, in the center of Shanghai. While we are still a bit heartbroken by the unexpected eviction from our original venue, BANK’s move announces a bold new beginning with an improved, mature, but still subversive space and agenda. On the Bund our character was defined in part by the charm and history of our building’s setting, here on Anfu Lu - the heart of Shanghai’s bourgeoisie culture - we have literally gone underground in an industrial basement that went unused for many years. The space isn’t only infinitely more convenient; it also has drama, history and a certain sex appeal that we hope you will appreciate.

这次新空间的改造项目，我们很高兴能与优秀的建筑师Daan Roggeveen和他的团队“超越工作室”合作。 作为我们原空间的常客，Daan深刻了解BANK的使命，从而成为了帮助我们过渡到新空间的不二人选。 他和我们一起定期检查新空间，想象着每一种可能性。 对Daan而言最重要的是对我们身份的二次挖掘，以及如何通过设计来实现这一点。 我们讨论了画廊的性质，以及BANK如何通过自己的方式去尝试重新定义它。 对我们而言，画廊不仅仅是一个容纳艺术的外壳，而是一种表达的工具和一种融入自身的体验。
For this project we collaborated with the formidable architect Daan Roggeveen and his company MORE Architecture. As a regular visitor to our old venue Daan intimately understood the mission of BANK and was a natural partner in helping us transition into a new outfit. Together we examined the new space on a regular basis and imagined every possibility in detail. Most important for Daan was the discovery of who we were and how we could achieve this through spatial design. We discussed the nature of what a gallery is and how BANK was trying re-define this on its own terms. The gallery for us wasn’t merely a shell to house art but a vehicle for expression and an experience in itself.

当国庆期间我们开始装修时，大约是在开幕之前一个半月，没有电，没有管道或通风系统，有的是超过半米的瓦砾堆，需要从地上全部清走。 奥斯汀·李，我们开幕展览的艺术家，建议我们留下瓦砾 —— 这是一个多么有趣的体验 —— 一边看艺术，一边攀登瓦砾！ 但我们无法想象穿着高跟鞋的女士们也会喜欢这个主意。 为了在11月那重要的一周准时开放——上海迎来了两个国际艺术博览会、上海双年展的开幕和无数其他艺术活动——我们必须以最快的速度搬家。从地上将4500袋垃圾移走仅仅是个开始。
When we began renovation on National Day, about a month and a half before opening, there was no electricity, no plumbing or air systems, and more than a half meter of rubble that had to be removed from the floor. Austin Lee, the artist who was inaugurating the new gallery, voted to leave the rubble- what an interesting experience - looking at art while climbing over rubble! But we couldn't imagine the ladies in heels being too amused. And as we were trying to open on time for the week of November- when Shanghai witnessed two international art fairs, the opening of the Shanghai Biennial and countless other art events- we had to move extremely quickly. Removing 4500 bags of refuse from the floor was just the beginning.

与“超越工作室”的合作过程非常令人兴奋，有时也会感到晦涩和沮丧，但就像绘画本身，这是一个真正的创造冒险。 这个地下室原先曾被使用，又很快被抛弃，我们坚持保留了部分原貌，同时兼顾了画廊的功能和对我们形象的提升。 这成了一个保留和带走的游戏，一个原先布局和未来规划的拼贴。 我们最初的计划每天都在改变，很难跟改造团队同步。 用Daan的话来说，他想强调支撑墙的线条，从而在观赏作品的时候达到“移步换景”的效果。最终，这成了一个有趣的，启迪式的学习、合作过程，为以后的项目留下了很多灵活的空间。目前，我们还在我们的办公室“露营”，等待橱柜和细节的完成，但是——我们已经对外开放了！
The collaborative process with MORE was quite exciting, sometimes abstruse and frustrating, but, almost like painting itself, a true adventure in creativity. We were adamant to retain some of the leftover qualities of this original, quickly abandoned basement space, as well as make a functional gallery and upgrade our image. It became a game of leaving and taking away, a collage of what was there and what was to come. Our original plans were changing everyday and we were hard pressed to keep up with the pace construction team. As Daan put it, his idea was to emphasize the lines of the supporting walls to create a “coulisse landscape in which you can explore and discover artworks from different perspectives.” In the end it was a fun, inspiring and educational collaboration that left a lot of flexibility in the space for projects to come. We actually are still camping out in our office waiting for closets and details to be finished but, alas, we are open!

BANK at Anfu Lu opened earlier last month with Austin Lee’s Light Paintings and has received gracious media attention from Art Forum, Frieze, That's Shanghai, Artron, National Arts, Randian, etc., We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for Daan and his team at MORE, support from our landlord, construction team, as well as to everybody who helped launch our new chapter @ BANK!
