BANK10th Anniversary Show - Birthday Party!王芮的《神谕作为场景的碎片》作品系列正于BANK十周年展览《生日派对！》中展出。该系列由12幅小画组成，代表着“疑惑”、“开启”、“守护”、“惩罚”、“复活”等具有寓言色彩的场景，皆呼应着艺术家某一时刻的心灵感召。这也是该系列作品的首次全数亮相，它们如同情绪碎片，复原着艺术家通过极尽细腻的铅笔绘画进行自我疗愈的过程，并引导艺术家在一笔一画的描绘中不断增强内在力量。Wang Rui's series of works entitled "The oracle as a fragment of the scene" is on view in BANK's 10th anniversary exhibition, Birthday Party! The series consists of 12 small paintings representing allegorical scenes such as "Doubts", "Unfold", "Guardianship", "Punishment", "Resurrection" and so on, all of which echo the artist's spiritual calling at a particular moment. This is also the first time that all the works in the series have been presented, and they resemble emotional fragments that restore the artist's process of self-healing through the most delicate pencil drawings, and guide the artist to foster her inner strength in each and every stroke of the drawing.4-Ⅳ.守护 Guardianship / 5-Ⅴ.安全 Security / 6-Ⅵ.临近 Proximity 7-Ⅶ.惩罚 Punishment / 8-Ⅷ.复活 Resurrection

Wang Rui's works are on view in inner flow Gallery's current exhibition "Screaming at the Party, Like Tears in the Rain", where she used paintings and installations to decorate a dreamy scene. The exhibition aims to explore the richness of human emotions and perceptions, while reflecting on the indifference, futility of communication, and impotence of love that we experience in the age of rapidly advancing technologies such as artificial intelligence.

王芮的综合材料石墨纸本作品《致罗伯特·史密森》亮相33ml offspace的特别项目“绘画小时代”。该作品致敬了罗伯特·史密森于1970年创作的大地艺术作品《Spiral Jerry》。
Wang Rui’s mixed media graphite on paper artwork To Robert Smithson is currently on display in the special exhibition program “Painting Tiny Times” at 33ml space, Shanghai. The painting pays homage to Spiral Jerry, an earth art piece created by Robert Smithson in 1970.

Wang Rui’s artwork Kappa (2023) is on view in the group exhibition "Longing:Anthem of Digital Sadness" at Guangdong Contemporary Art Centre, Guangzhou.If we are dating data daily, someone who gradually gets lost in a virtual environment has always been longing for a chance to contact the real world. WANG Rui creates Kappa (2023), consisting of [15-25] sets of leaf-heart objects that fall here and there on the Prussian blue carpet, which presents a series of protocols that connect cyberspace with the physical space, mind, and body. Unlike her digital drawings on a computer, the artist’s recent practice focuses on the truth perceived and embedded in materials. Leaves drawn by pencil situate in a reality, where paper cut-outs look as fragile as withered leaves. Heart-shaped faces are softly and sincerely wrapped in the texture of tin, which records the artist’s acts and emotions meticulously.

Wang Rui
王芮，1989年出生于四川，成长于四川。2012年在四川美术学院完成本科学业。随后前往北京。在北京生活工作6年，于2018年搬到上海。现长期沉迷于网络，在网络世界里四处游荡。是虚拟世界的“流浪者”“自然主义者”和“隐身客”。网络ID：“闲人”“人精”。近期工作方向：通过铅笔以绘画的方法来感受实在“物质”作为媒介和坐标，连接意识与身体。王芮于2018年及2022年在上海BANK画廊举办个展，并在北京 salt 项目，大卫·卓纳画廊(香港)，苏州艺术博物馆和深圳何香凝美术馆展出过。王芮还参加了汉斯·乌尔里希·奥布里斯特在 FIAC 2017的 “89+和谷歌艺术与文化”座谈会。Wang Rui (born in Sichuan 1989) graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and now lives and works in Shanghai. She currently explores the body and consciousness through pencil drawings and handmade objects. Wang Rui has held her solo exhibitions respectively in 2018 and in 2022 at BANK/MABSOCIETY, Shanghai. Wang’s work has been shown at Salt Projects, Beijing; David Zwirner Gallery, HK; Suzhou Art Museum; He Xiangning Art Museum Shenzhen as well as Surplus Space, Wuhan.
