THE WHO is a basic series of maximum three intercultural creators being featured monthly in HeathersChamber.

阿太的密室从2020年起每月开展”谁“系列亮出顶多三位跨文化的创作者。

WHO can be artist, painter, writer, poet, editor, publisher, philosopher, photographer, designer, architect, scientist, filmmaker, musician, art collector, art dealer, antique dealer, founder of an art platform, a distinctive "qi pa", a grassroot off mainstreams, a daring storyteller, a soul catcher, or a street performer with a voice rumbling like the sea of storms.

"谁”可以是艺术家、画家、作家、诗人、编辑、出版商、哲学家、摄影师、设计师、建筑师、科学家、电影人、音乐家、收藏家、艺术品交易商、古董商、艺术平台创始人、有独特艺术见解的“奇葩”人物、非主流创意“草根”、勇敢无畏的说书人、心灵捕手、或激昂澎湃的街头艺人。

As a great start of 2020, THE WHO of January goes to our honored artists Andrew Cole, Shan He and Crow.

CROW is a German painter, a rock musician, an art performer and a writer. His new book is released in three languages: Chinese, English and German. A curator Susanne Melanie Matz thus commented:

TALES OF DYING BUTTERFLIES, the Audiobook by Crow and Warwick Gilles is nothin' less than a Coup! Crow is a veritable predecessor of Edgar Allan Poe. While Warwick Gilles' Voice gives birth to the verse and songs' lyrics in a spherical congeniality.

CROW是一位德国画家、摇滚音乐家、艺术表演家和作家。他的新书以汉语、英语和德语出版。有位策展人苏珊·梅勒妮·马茨这样评论道：

Crow的书由演员Warwick Gilles配音，听起来如同喝一杯香浓的咖啡。Crow是名副其实的埃德加·爱伦·坡。而沃里克·吉勒的声音则产生了诗文与歌词的完美契合。

Crow's artworks have been exhibited in China, Japan, Mongolia, the USA, Switzerland, Scandinavia, and Germany. His paintings and art installations are passionate expressions inspired by earth, air, fire, and water - and by his wild and free spirit. “You can also paint a song.“

Crow的艺术作品已在中国、日本、内蒙古、美国、瑞士、斯堪的纳维亚和德国广泛展出。他的绘画和艺术装置充满活力和激情，灵感源于水、火、土、空气，以及他狂野自由的精神。“你也可以画一首歌。”

Crow's paintings are often figurative abstractions, illustrating inner conflicts, the struggle between obligations and desires. Dissolving figures try to find stability in rhythmical, formal patterns, the fragility and instability of the self is counterbalanced by geometrical structures. 

Crow的画作多是抽象肖像，表达内心的冲突、以及责任和欲望之间的斗争。溶解的人物试图在节奏与形式上找到定点，自我的脆弱和不稳定被几何结构所抗衡。

Crow's installations, images and ideas literally leave their frame, expanding to a three-dimensional space beyond the limitations of planes.

Crow’s stage art performances are wild spectacles that attract large audiences. His latest live project, “Un-leashed”, combines powerful music with a startling visual performance, capturing acoustic emotion and visual language on canvas。

Crow狂野自如的舞台艺术表演吸引了大批观众。他近期的作品“释放”，结合了震撼的音乐和惊人的演绎，在画布上捕捉声学情感和视觉语言。

Photography is a way to express one's subjective cognition. How to find a balance between "deliberate description" and "unintentional observation", as well as expressing emotions, is a topic I can explore nonstop.  

摄影是表达个体主观认知的一种方式。如何在“刻意的描述”和“无意的旁观”之间找到平衡点，并表达某种情绪是我永无止境探索的课题。

Chinese photographer Shan He and Crow were having a charitable exhibition Same Language Same Colors at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, when I first met her. Their inspiring works motivated me to buy a piece to support a poor little girl studying in a school with only one teacher working in it.

初次见面时，中国摄影师何杉和Crow正在上海展览中心举办一个童言同语的慈善展览。他们鼓舞人心的艺术作品激励我买了一副支持在一所只有一位老师的学校读书的一个小女孩。

It is a great step in the history of human development to recognize the three dimensions in the acceptance and reproduction of art. Nowadays the development of photography with more and more conveniences and intelligent device, will call for more emotional and subjective expressions behind the lens.

In my work, I emphasize the relationship of shadows in three dimensions. I use the photographic results of appearances to convey my arguments and initiatives as a social person. I hope that more of us can put down the mentality of lazy thinking and get to know the true meaning of everything in front of us.

Emotions, the treasure of mankind.

在艺术的接受和再现中，能够认识到三个维度，是人类发展史上的一大步。摄影发展到今天，越来越多的便捷以及智能的硬件出现，也同时越来越呼唤镜头后的那个充满情感和主观意志的摄影人。

我的作品，大多强调三维空间的阴影关系，尝试将个人的瞬间情绪与价值观注入到偶然遇见的人、事、物、象中。

通过表象的摄影结果来传递作为一个社会人的论点及倡议，希望更多的我们可以放下快速一撇的心态，深入了解眼前一切的真谛。

情感，人类的宝藏。

---Andrew Cole

My work has an overarching theme which focuses on humans and the actions that we take as humans, but as absences rather than presences, and through the traces left behind on ruined and damaged forms. If the human form is used, it tends to be abstracted, distorted or disrupted in some way, rather than being rendered realistically as a physical form. 

我的作品有个包罗万象的主题：表现人和人的行为活动。只是他想表达的这个“人”常常不在作品中直接现身。但通过被破坏或损坏的痕迹可以发现这个“人”的存在。如果人类的形态已被使用，它往往以某种方式被扭曲、瓦解或抽象化。并非像物质被现实轻描淡写。

Andrew Cole's work primarily takes the form of mixed media paintings which are abstract in their nature. Cole explores the impact and processes of human thinking, either as an abstract conceptual space or through the lens of history, politics, philosophy, and literature. This thinking is represented by marks on textured surfaces, which are designed to evoke natural or constructed, virtual or actual landscapes. Cole is British, and currently lives and works in Shanghai. He is widely travelled, previously living in Oman, Thailand and South Africa. His work has been shown and collected in Europe, Africa and Asia.

安德鲁·科尔的作品基本上都是混合媒介的抽象绘画。科尔探讨了人类思维的影响和过程，要么作为一个抽象的概念空间，要么通过历史、政治、哲学和文学的镜头，唤起自然或建造，虚拟或实际景观的人文思想。科尔是英国人，目前在上海生活和工作。他周游四海，曾旅居阿曼、泰国和南非。他的艺术作有在欧洲、非洲和亚洲展出并被收藏。

About Heather Cai:

Heather is the daughter of a subsistence rice farmer from Fujian Province, China. She tells stories from her experience as one of the poorest. She writes her dream to share with the world, a very personal place. She has now written two English literary novels and is looking to being published in the UK. Her passion is a splendid cocktail or milkshake of word, image, music and art. She likes collecting books, DVDs, papers, stones, shells and leaves. She desires for all forms of natural beauty. She is currently teaching kids chess in Shanghai.
