With the rapid development of technology, the gradual satisfaction of the material and the increasing pressures, what is most needed in the modern society now? What are people looking for and talking about? Social media have stuffed our brain with far more information than we could digest. But what about Quality? Who doesn’t want to spend quality time with quality friends, eating quality food, having quality conversations, and choosing a quality partner for a quality life?随着科技迅猛发展，物质日益满足和压力逐渐增加，当今社会最需要的是什么？人们又在追寻和谈论什么？社交媒体给我们的大脑塞满了远远超过我们能吸收的信息。但好在哪呢？谁不想花有效时间和优秀朋友在一起，吃健康美食，交流有意思话题，为更好的生活选择一个更好的伴侣？
Eventually what we need most will be something that can never be repeated or copied, and belongs only to us as human beings. It is our wisdom, our soul.最终，返璞归真。我们最需要的将是只属于我们人类且永远无法被重复或复制的东西：我们的智慧，我们的灵魂.
To know our soul, we need to learn about psychology. Because psychology is the study of the soul. “It aims to explain what happens in our “black box” and how these events affect our way of acting, considering the stimuli we receive too. And to know our wisdom, we need to learn about philosophy. Because philosophy is the love of wisdom. It describes what is wrong and what is right. Its purpose is to solve transcendent problems that occur in reality - such as existence, knowledge, truth, morals, beauty, the mind, and language.要熟悉我们的智慧，就需要学习哲学。因为哲学是对智慧的热爱。它描述了对与错，旨在解决现实中发生的至高无上的问题，如存在、知识、真理、道德、美、心灵和语言。
Some people say, life is philosophy or philosophy is life. Apparently, life is life, philosophy is philosophy. Life is everything. Philosophy explains everything. But how closely can philosophy expound our life?有人说，生活是哲学，哲学是生活。显然，生活是生活，哲学是哲学。生活就是一切。哲学解释一切。但哲学能把我们的生活阐述得多紧密呢？
It is worthwhile exploring that philosophical idea, which has motivated us to start the first Café Philo in China.这道哲学疑问值得我们深思探讨，也启发我们在中国开始创立第一个咖啡哲学。
--- Our Café Philo logo, Shanghai, 2020.3 | 咖啡哲学标志 Café Philo History | 咖啡哲学史Café Philo was founded by modern-day philosopher Marc Sautet, who started the idea of philosophy cafés at the now famous Café des Phares in Paris on December 13th, 1992. It is an international network for people who are interested in philosophical issues. The purpose was to stimulate real dialogue about the larger questions of life. The idea was to bring people together to a friendly and soulful community full of love and wisdom - much the same as did Socrates in his time. This is done in an informal setting for people wishing to share and learn from and with others. The early subjects varied from the Santa Claus myth to truth, to beauty, to happiness, to death. Sautet made the discussions seem fun and exciting. A café tended to have this type of atmosphere for people to enjoy coffee and relax - let the conversations flow. Ultimately the concept flourished into Café Philo.

Thousands of participants in philosophy cafés worldwide have adopted Sautet's idea as a way to enhance their thinking. Ideas are thrown out with concern for philosophical rigor and accuracy. Concepts are in the spirit of openness and tolerance. Sautet's philosophy cafés have spread from France to England, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Greece, Poland, and subsequently throughout Europe. Now the root has reached Canada, South America, Japan, the United States, and eventually around the world. Café Philo China | 中国咖啡哲学A typical Café Philo in China would be a coffee shop for like-minded people to meet, talk, think, make friends, play with philosophical items, explore life’s larger questions, share experiences over a cup of coffee, and learn about developing good mental habits. It aims to create a great community (in cooperation with owners of coffee shops in different Chinese cities), where people can have regular meetings to talk about philosophical and ethical issues.一家典型的中国咖啡哲学将属于志同道合的人见面、交谈、思考、交朋友、玩哲学项目、探索生活大问题、边品咖啡边分享经验，并学习如何养成积极的心理习惯。它旨在创造一个良好的社区环境（与中国不同城市的咖啡店老板合作)，让人们可以定期围桌而谈，讨论哲学和伦理问题。
Each Chinese Café Philo coffee shop would be identified by having a Café Philo logo sticker on the window, and interiors can include installations of the main philosophers in history, posters with photos and quotations by important philosophers and writers.每家中国咖啡哲学将在窗户贴上咖啡哲学标志，室内可装置一些历史上主要作家哲学家的头像、照片、海报、引文、语录。
Café Philo will provide philosophical games, quotes, questions, tests, and may also have bookshelves to display books and merchandise related to philosophy. Any philosophical topic may be discussed. Any participants volunteer may choose a particular topic or the group may brainstorm a list of topics and choose one. Brief readings or a short presentation may also be used as discussion triggers. The new comers may well start with a self introduction. This will be followed by an interesting conversation or a game between two or more friends.咖啡哲学将提供哲学游戏、引语、问题、测试，或书架展示与哲学相关的书籍和商品。参与者可以讨论任何哲学话题。其中一位可以选择一个特定的主题，也可以小组头脑风暴共同决定。形式和方式多样，更有简单读书会或简短说明会作为讨论的触发点。新来的人可以随意自我介绍。很快就会在有趣的对话或游戏中交到朋友。
Café Philo may periodically organize a workshop related to specific philosophical topics. It is designed to cater adults, friends, families and teenagers for a pleasantly meaningful time. Heather is the daughter of a subsistence rice farmer from Fujian Province, China. She tells stories from her experience as one of the poorest. She writes her dream to share with the world, a very personal place. She has now written two English literary novels and is looking to being published in the UK. Her passion is a splendid cocktail or milkshake of word, image, music and art. She likes collecting books, DVDs, papers, stones, shells and leaves. She desires for all forms of natural beauty. She is currently teaching kids chess in Shanghai.
