Behold Exhibition lingers in the mind having created some challenging experiments for the new curator, Heather Cai, and maybe a wonder for the audience. How could the importance and concept of Beholding have been understood through thoughtful conversations and mysterious interactions? What effects did THE WHO - NO NAME play give to us when conducting the role? Why does this whole "game" sound like a creative "mess" that draws curiosity, from us who love art, over a distance? Behold is not just one big display for our visual delight. It is an intimate plan with on-going events that will mutually develop our ability to see, hear, touch, smell, taste, think, discover, and redefine art. What is the sight we want to behold? Shh~ Stay tuned.
展览【看】对小白策展人阿太来说是一系列具有挑战性的实验,而对观众来说或许是个谜。如何通过开怀交谈和神秘互动来理解【看】的概念和重要性?在扮演“是谁-无名”角色时对我们的思维产生了什么影响?为何整个“游戏”听起来像在创造一场“混乱”却吸引了一群人热爱艺术超越距离?【看】远不止于亮眼的一大展示,更是一个“亲密计划”,接下来的不定期活动将从视觉、听觉、嗅觉、味觉、触觉等全方位让我们重新思考、重新发现和重新定义艺术。我们的内心真正想看到的是什么?嘘~ 敬请期待!

郝方圆早早就带着他的古董木刷和金色颜料来到开幕会现场。他微笑着四处感受氛围。不久,他跟Carlo一起回来,两人手上拿着源自朱家角古镇民居的旧瓦片。其实用瓦做书写载体是他即兴想起的,因为我们原本提供给他的是一个废弃的红色玻璃窗。看着挺有趣,他在画廊踱步,把十六块瓦砖一丝不苟地摆放在地板上,双臂交叉,跟他身后他自己的展览作品一样,沉思入境,然后点头说他准备好可以表演了。(微信搜Atman_One关注公众号了解更多艺术家信息)

Blue - We Are All Becoming Something / 蓝:我们终将有所成
David Loew's four featured artworks are transformative female figures. He thinks woman is a mystery, like an undiscovered country. And for this Blue piece, it was originally conceived as an abstract image. “We Are All Becoming Something” evolved as he could feel the pieces fitting together. Combining the soft, rounded physical form of a woman body with hard rusted metal and pealing paint made the artist think of how we grow, evolve and decay.
大卫·洛的四幅展览作品是变异女性裸体系列。他认为,女人是谜,像未被开垦的国家。譬如【蓝】,最初设想为一个抽象的画面,“我们都在演变成某种东西”日渐显现。艺术家能感觉到不同的碎片自由组合。将女性身体的柔软、圆润的物理形式与坚硬的生锈金属和剥落的油漆结合起来,让艺术家想到了我们人类是如何进化和腐烂的。

White / 白
Atman One's two featured series of image work: one traditional Ancient Worship and one contemporary White, show the power and spirit of his being infatuated with ancient times and appreciating future technology. He believes that the essence of Chinese traditional culture is "the integration of all things", and the core of "ALL IN ONE" is "ONE". The ultimate way of performing "ONE" is directly integrating everything into people's daily life. In other words, he is not an artist, he is art. His most complete work will be his life, his creations, his history, his hopes, and all that he has.
郝方圆展出的作品是“祭古”和“白”两个系列,体现了他既迷恋古代又向往未来科技的内在力量和精神理念。也是他对中国传统文化精华“万物一体”的信念。他认为,“万物一体”最核心的精髓就是“一”。而“一”最终极的呈现方式就是直接融入到人们的日常生活当中。换言之,他并非艺术家,他是艺术本身。他最完整的作品将是他的生活、他的生命、他的历史、他的希望、他的一切。

From Desire to Desire / 欲望不断
Zhu Yu's featured work is an animation video installation From Desire to Desire, bizarrely expressing our human desire of eating, sleeping, sexing, dying. When everything is stripped off, the remaining bones (bed bones, chicken bones, pig bones) also need to dance all over the sky. This is the artist's thorough feelings of romance!
朱渔呈现的是关于人性弱点的一个诙谐动画视频装置。艺术家古怪精灵的把人类的基本欲望食欲,性欲,权利欲,和死亡的欲望相互融合。所有的一切都剥离掉剩下骨头的时候,(床骨,鸡骨,猪骨。)骨头还需要漫天漫舞,这是艺术家透彻的烂漫情怀!

Innuendo 2.0 (#02/10) Limited Edition / 限量版
Crow's featured two pieces are Analoge Photography (double exposure) with Acrylic and Pen. Both are 150x100cm, in black and red, with strong contrast as the white hollows out in between, giving you a tension that keeps your eyes open, illustrating inner conflicts and the personal struggles. Dissolving figures try to find stability in rhythmical, formal patterns, the fragility and instability of the self is counterbalanced by geometrical structures.
Crow的两幅展览作品都是150x100cm的模拟摄影(双曝光),混合丙烯和钢笔素描。幽远的黑色降临,内心怒放的红粗狂裸奔在整个画面,犹如深夜里独自闯荡徘徊在陌生的十字路口,红灯闪烁,留下渺茫的旁白,恰似镂空,可以窥视内心抽象的冲突、以及个体无形的挣扎。溶解的人物试图在节奏与形式上找到定点,自我的脆弱和不稳定被几何结构所抗衡。

Before the Dawn / 破晓前
Andrew Cole shows his newest series of five abstract paintings for Behold Exhibition. He explores the impact and process of human thinking, which is represented by marks on textured surfaces, with an overarching theme of humans and the actions we take as humans, but as absence rather than presence, and through the traces left behind on ruined and damaged forms. His most distinctly recognizable trait is his use of commonplace or literally 'poor' materials such as wood, sand, ink, rubber and modelling paste in Before the Dawn. These practices present a challenge to established notions of value and propriety, as well as a subtle critique against the modern industrialization and mechanization, which is actually known in Arte Povera Movement - the "poor art" - one of the most significant and influential avant-garde movements in the 1960s. And the two specific artists whose works can be referred to Cole's creative style are Alberto Burri and Antoni Tapies.
安德鲁·科尔展出了五幅混合媒介的抽象绘画新作,探讨了人类思维的影响和过程,表现人和人的行为活动,通过破坏或损坏的残留物体痕迹可以发现这个“人”的存在。他的艺术创作最鲜明的特征是使用日常生活普通廉价的材料,如《破晓前》使用木屑、沙子、墨水、橡胶等。他的艺术实践是对既定的价值观念和虚荣仪式提出挑战,并对现代工业化和机械化做出委婉批判。其实,这种“穷艺术”在60年代是众所周知的有重要影响力的Arte Povera运动,而科尔的艺术风格与阿尔贝托·布里和安东尼·塔皮斯两位“穷”艺术家有着异曲同工之妙。

Zhenya Hitrova's featured work are three squarely elegant pieces, a good example of her experimenting with a mixed-media drawing technique, including language marks, colors, lines and shapes, and creating a whimsical world of mythology of mysterious people, fantastic creatures, enigmatic symbols and codes. N.27 is from her Mysterious People series.
Zhenya Hitrova 展出的三幅30x30cm简约系列作品,是她自学成才对语言标记、颜色、线条和形状,并尝试混合媒介绘画技巧的艺术实践之一,开创了一个充满神秘人物、古怪生物、以及谜一样的符号代码如此异想天开的神话世界。N.27就是来自“神秘人物”系列。

Forget the Black / 忘记了忧伤
Chuo Quan's featured three square pieces are all watercolor, including Forget the Black. He utters simplicity and expresses the beauty of simple life with colors and shapes, creating a romantic or awakening world. His artworks are his self-expression of the present - the true state of his life. Each of his works either illustrates a dream or tells a story, gathering a sense of peace and quiet between the real and unreal, and recalling a memory that is still there reflecting your own shadow.
啜泉展出了三幅方形精致水彩画,包括这幅《忘记了忧伤》。他的创作风格一直秉持不忘初心,善用色彩和形状线条表达简单生活的美,构造一个缤纷浪漫的世界,梦里梦外,真真假假,假假真真,都是他当下真实状态的一种记录,或清醒严肃,或雾里看花。回忆过去,故事绵延,看见自己狭长的影子。

Shan He's featured three pieces are a set of sold work from her notable Bulb Fiction, which has been displayed in many countries. She exquisitely captures the disparity between the individual and the community, raising awareness about the ever growing artificial intelligence in social behavior. In her work, she emphasizes the relationship of shadows in three dimensions, using photographic results of appearances to convery her arguments, her initiatives, and her emotions.
何杉的三幅展览作品来自已在多个国家展出并售罄的《幻影小说》故事系列。她很巧妙地用镜头捕捉个体与社会之间的差异,试图提高人们对日益增长的人工智能的警惕和认识。她的作品大多强调三维空间的阴影关系,尝试将个人的瞬间情绪与价值观注入到偶然遇见的人、事、物、象中。通过表象的摄影结果来传递作为一个社会人的论点、倡议及情感。

王怡涤老师在开幕会前一天带一班专业人士把他惊艳的四幅《锦》系列大作挂在墙上,瞬间让画廊变亮。他多年的创作生涯一直秉持对摄影、绘画、刺绣和拼贴的探索和重构,在作品中大胆运用各种腐烂或即将死去的食物元素,重新发现朽败和死亡的美,并创造性地再现了一幅华丽景象,讽刺了现代中国物质泛滥中大量浪费食物的“快餐”文化现象,以及在现代化失衡后的今天对自然之道的破坏和人类社会行为丑陋的反思。其艺术作品包含许多元素的丰富性和整个创作过程的复杂性,也让艺术家的灵感慢慢稳定渗透,酝酿出一种新的语汇和形态,成为艺术家独特的表达方式:再朽败的美,也有壮丽的时候;这不仅是他对自然的尊重,而且是他对死亡即生命轮回的深刻理解。 摄影和绘画的结合,再加上刺绣的二度创作,会着重营造一种富丽堂皇的效果,作为法国国宝级的手工艺,一直是香奈儿,华伦天奴,迪奥等殿堂级品牌,在高级定制礼服中运用最多的手工艺之一。法绣的特点是:运用一种独特钩针进行隐藏性的反面刺绣,使钩针依靠双手在面料正反两面,配合将各种材料按照图案构思进行刺绣。这副画中运用了10多种不同材质,如贝壳、皮革、缎带、羽毛,绒线,钮扣,珍珠,金属花瓣,亮片等,让画作更有立体感,仿佛打上了阴影和高光,整件作品因之而灵韵横生。这样的创作手法加强了气氛的渲染,意境的提升,相得益彰,耐人寻味!而刺绣更是来自于高级定制Graceyhan手工坊。
