Ancient Kiln Site

Flaming for thousand years

Probably no other place has survived 2,000 years doing just one thing. 15% of 1.1million population directly employed by 6700 porelain companies. For centuries, ceramics production techniques were handed down like the flame in the kiln. Artisans in ancient workshops are making ceramics in the old way; Old masters still praying to the kiln gods before firing each batch.

Kaolin Village

Essence of Jingdezhen’s success

There is a mountain named Gaoling, 60km away from the northeast of Jingdezhen, abounding with porcelain clay called “Kaolin”, which was translated by a German scholar Ferdinand von Richthofen, when he refered to "Gaoling" as "Kaolin". Kaolin is famous for its white and fine quality, and the nature of fire resistance, which is the main material for porcelain body.

Imperial Kiln Museum

Presend and Past

Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum's design and contents pay homage to the city's history of making ceramics, for which it has been dubbed as the world's "porcelain capital". The overall experience of the museum tries to rediscover the roots of Jingdezhen, to recreate the past experience among kilns, porcelain, and human beings. Preserving not only the ancient site itself, but the soul of Jingdezhen.

Porcelain Art Settlements

Artists gathering from home and abroad

This is a land of idyllic, nestled in the valley. It provides the opportunity to the international arts and crafts community to explore and exchange the culture, arts and crafts. Throughout the years this art village has continued to innovate the pottery industry, share ideas and collaborate with artists.

Exclusive Visit to Founder's Studio

A hidden part which is not open to public

Unique Earth Art Field

An art safari among tea plantation

This special art field project has invited Fram Kitagawa as chief consultant, and more than 20 artists home and abroad taking part in. All works combine art and nature organically, with the theme of man and nature. This is truly an art gallery without a roof. Art installations are scattered throughout the field, serving as the villagers former home and their future artistic “home”.

Day & Night Market

History buff and antique lovers' favourite

Jingdezhen market is the best for hunting old pieces and curios, strolling along the narrow paths lined by blocks formed by ceramics on sale and meanwhile illuminating anything that catches your eye. It really requires a pair of discerning eyes to spot the real treasure, but it's just so interesting to see the old stuff.

Local Delicacy

Feast to eyes and stomach

Jingdezhen people are undoubtedly rice lovers. In lieu of wheat-based dumpling skin, they use rice-based skin and wrapped it with fillings like sliced carrots, minced chili, tofu and pork, sometimes with pickles and sprouts. Compared to the traditional one, this "jiaozi" has a more translucent and chewier skin. The other “must try” is “mazi youtiao”, make sure have a bite when you are there.

Boutique Hotel

Cozy room and oriental garden

Handpicked local hotel with great location, absolute Jingdezhen flavour and aesthetic beauty conception, plus abundance of breakfast choices.  Walking distance to riverside, perfectly enjoying night view.
