Das Un/Heimliche
2021.09.11-2021.11.07
📍Hive Center for Contemporary Art, 798 Art Zone
Das Un/Heimliche (Old things as new) is a contemporary allegory created by artist Joey Xia in response to the trapped cultural and political situation in the geopolitical environment that he is in. It is stated in title to declare that all familiar objects in the exhibition will be presented in an ambiguous "copy". The contradictions between domestication and danger, intimacy and horror in the etymological meaning of "Unheimliche" in German are the background colors laid by the artist for the allegories.
Trance Afternoon
2021.09.11-2021.11.07
📍Hive Center for Contemporary Art, 798 Art Zone
Artist Ji Xin's latest works were created during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a rare aesthetic inclination of pastoral style. Unlike traditional pastoral themes, praise and aesthetic description of gods is no longer the artist's responsibility. The poetic pastoral is just to conceal all the uneasiness brought about by social reality. It is not so much that Ji Xin’s creation is an escape from reality and self-salvation and liberation. It is his construction of a sentimental habitat, which provides a moment of tranquility for all viewers. An excuse for trance.
Let There Be Light
2021.09.03-2021.11.14
📍SPURS Gallery, 798 Art Zone
We’ve heard this so many times that when we really start thinking about it, it’s easy to forget the simplest meaning: God created light after pointing out the name of "light". What we see is from what we talk. And there is more than one language to describe the world. "Let there be Light" aims to allow us to temporarily abandon the linguistic definition of "light" and return to the sensation itself triggered by the stimulation of the visual nerves.

📍Egg Gallery, Cao Chang Di Art Zone
EGG Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition《Reproduction of the concrete》by artists Geng Yini、Fu Jingyan、Dai Zhou.
Reproduction of The Concrete means a re-creation of concrete. It is not satisfied with the concrete image itself, but extracts a new expression from the image, and retains a strong reference to the real world. It keeps a certain distance from abstraction, but still maintains ambiguity, because it realizes a true complex state between reality and mind, which is difficult to describe in pure abstract language. It sway between left and right.
Street of Eternal Happiness
2021.09.09-2021.11.10
📍Ying Space, Cao Chang Di Art Zone
Maintaining nearly forty years of friendship, artists Ding Yi, Feng Lianghong, and Yu Youhan developed diverse styles of art from one common origin.
“The Street of Eternal Happiness” is the location of artist Yu Youhan’s studio in the 1980s. We believe this expressive name represents a significant coordinate of an artistic community. There also exists a distinct transformation process of their creation from the early-stage abstraction of cultural ideology to the present abstraction of painting self.
