启明星的教育者向公众介绍社会创新项目
在启明星，创造力和培养社会创新者有什么关系？正如Ashoka关于变革者的报告所述，“没有创造力是无法成为变革者的。从改变现状的角度看待和做事需要勇气。”
9月25日，在北京举行的2021年青少年戏剧与创新教育国际论坛上，我们的社会创新总监Elizabeth Walker Sobhani就结合创造力和同理心来培养社会创新者这一主题做出了更多的介绍。
她分享了启明星如何在员工和学生中发展社会创新思维的例子，通过真实的体验将其与现实世界联系起来，以及启明星如何通过由学生组织的具有社会使命的活动“力求改变项目”、我们11年级的社会创新课程来激发有意义的行动。
这些信息在现场引起热烈反响。我们希望启明星的行动能够激励他人了解：我们的世界所需要的教育必须超越常规；它需要具备创造力和勇气的一代社会创新者。
同一天，伦敦大学学院（UCL）北京校友会与哈佛校友会教育协会、哈佛大学教育学院中国校友会在北京联合举办“创造未来教育新引擎”主题论坛，邀请教育领域的学者、研究者、实践者、政策制定者共聚一堂。启明星中学校长Daniel Williams受邀参加论坛。
Williams校长参加了一个小组讨论，讨论的主题是人工智能和大数据的崛起可能导致教育的未来走向，特别是创造力在促进创新方面的作用，以及创造力对经济发展的作用。作为博士研究内容的一部分，Williams校长发表了有关教育成就与经济发展关系的学术论文。作为该领域的领军人物，他经常受邀在此类活动上发表演讲。
在论坛上，Williams校长也与其他与会者讨论了启明星的社会创新项目，因为未来雇主所寻求的不仅仅是拥有较高学术成就，而是全面发展、有社会意识、有创造力和爱心的员工。启明星新推出的社会创新项目为学生获得成功所需要的技能打下了良好的基础，不仅支持学生被优秀的大学录取，也确保他们在毕业后能够对社会产生重大的积极影响。
Daystar educators presented Social Innovation Program to the public
What does creativity have to do with developing social innovators at Daystar? As Ashoka’s report on changemakers states: “Being a changemaker is not possible without also being creative. It takes courage to see and do things differently from the status quo.”
At the TIE 2021 Conference in Beijing, our Director of Social Innovation, Elizabeth Walker Sobhani, had a chance to present more on this topic of combining creativity and compassion to develop social innovators.
She shared examples of how we are developing the social innovation mindset in staff and students, connecting this to the real world through authentic experiences, and are inspiring meaningful action through Projects for Change, student organized events that have a social mission, and our Grade 11 Social Innovation course.
The message was well received and hopefully inspired others that the education our world needs must go beyond the norm; it requires a generation of creative and courageous social innovators.
On the same day, UCL (University College London) Club of Beijing, Harvard Alumni Association and Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni in China co-hosted a theme forum on “Creating a New Engine for Future Education”, bringing together scholars, researchers, practitioners and policy makers in the education field to conduct in-depth discussions. Daystar Secondary School Principal Mr. Daniel Williams was invited to attend the forum.
Mr Williams participated in a panel discussion on what future direction education may take as a result of the rise in AI, big data, and specifically the role of creativity in fostering innovation and the role this has on economic development. Mr Williams has published academic papers as part of his PhD on the relationship between education attainment and economic development, and as a leader in the field is often invited to speak at events such this.
Mr Williams took the opportunity to discuss with fellow participants Daystar’s Social Innovation Program as the skills future employers are seeking are well beyond simple high academic attainment, they are looking for rounded, socially conscious, creative and caring employees. Our new Social Innovation Program is an excellent foundation in the skills they need ot develop to be successful, not just in obtaining excellent university offers, but ensuring they can make a significant positive impact after they graduate.
