少年的100小时社会初体验:实习项目圆满收官,看他们与同学们分享了什么?

读书是个由薄到厚,再由厚到薄的过程,
知识在点滴中积累,由少而多;
然后经过思考,提炼,去芜存精,由多而少。
启明星的实习项目也是如此:
学生从真实的工作场景汲取大量体验和见识,
再沉淀、浓缩,成为知识精华和行事准则。
不但如此,“由多而少”之后,
实习项目会继续向前滚动一个“由少而多”的环节——
实习生们向伙伴们分享自己的收获,
于是,个人的经验、触动成为大家的启发和预备……
#01 流动
向同学讲述自己的经历和收获,是实习项目的最后一环,也被称为顶点项目(Culminating Project):
这是刘峥(David)、郭千睿(Halley)、陈华霖(Nick)和增周加措(Jeremy)实习项目学习的“顶点”——向同学们介绍在真实工作场景的体验和故事,他们反思、提炼实习以来的所思所想,完成学习的闭环,达到整个学习过程的顶峰。
“从这几位实习生的分享我能看到,他们对自己有热情的事物更加慎重,也更加专注了。并且他们更加明白,做决定是多么复杂的一件事,需要周详的考虑。比如实习之前,他们对未来的专业方向或职业道路的考虑仅仅是基于个人兴趣的,现在他们明白了,其实可以有更多的路径选择。”

顶点项目进行中,实习学生的经验和思想也“流动”开来,影响和启发现场的每一位观众——正如视频里接受采访的同学所说,伙伴们的介绍让他对未来的实习充满期待!
“看得出,收听顶点项目演讲的时候,学生们都很专注,对未来的实习项目很兴奋!” 实习项目的辅导老师、IBDP经济学老师Darcy Au-Yeung 老师说,“他们也向参加实习的伙伴积极提问,为自己的实习做好心理上的准备。”
于是,经验和信息,从几个学生流向全体,带动了全年级学生的成长。
#02 静待花开
启明星尊重每一位学生的成长节奏,实习项目也是如此,培土育苗,静待花开。
“启明星学生想要从学校毕业,实习项目是必做项目,但我们不会无差别地安排所有学生同时参加。”大学升学顾问Melissa Meltzer Warehall 说,“我们会根据学生特点和兴趣为他们匹配适合的实习机会,也会在学生接受培训、成熟到可以参加实习的时候才会为他们安排。”
目前,启明星负责实习项目的团队正围绕第一届实习生的经历复盘,梳理经验和收获,进行调整,并努力扩大项目资源池。
“启明星启动了社会创新项目,未来我们的实习项目都要融入社会创新的逻辑,与联合国可持续发展目标保持一致,所以与一般的、只是把课堂学习内容在实践中简单运用的实习项目不同。”

走进真实的场景,在现实和学习之间建立联结,进而为身边社区乃至世界带来积极的改变;同时支持学生寻找和确认自己的兴趣,丰富大学升学简历,正是启明星社会创新项目“启创项目”强调学习与现实“Connecting”的应有之义。

Reading is a process from simplicity to complexity, then complexity back to simplicity.
Knowledge accumulation is just like waterdrops, from drips to streams.
And the stream gets stronger because of the accumulation of additional water drops.
So is knowledge which is boiled down to its essentials after thinking, reflecting and refining.
Daystar’s internship program is just like that: students gained real-world work experience through internships,
and they also developed attitudinal traits and professional skills during the process.
And it keeps developing. From “complexity to simplicity,”
the internship program will develop one more time of from simplicity to complexity. After the program, students come back and share what they have gained with peers,
and then more people will be inspired.
#01 Flowing
Sharing one’s experience and growth with others is the last part of the internship program called the Culminating Project.
Because that’s how four Daystar interns—David, Halley, Nick, and Jeremy—reached the capstone of their study. They shared with their friends how they felt and what they experienced at the actual work. And during that process, they reflected and refined everything they had gained during internship down to their own knowledge, reaching the peak of their capabilities.
I can see from these interns that they become more mature and also more focused on what they are passionate about. And they are aware that decision making in a workplace is so complex that they need to contemplate more factors than they’d ever before had to consider. For example, before joining the internship program, they were decisive in choosing their future majors or careers based on a singular interest. But now they know that actually, they’ve got a lot of options to choose from because a profession doesn’t consist of just one set of defined duties.

Students’ sharing keeps their experience and ideas “flowing” , influencing and inspiring their friends. As a student said in the video interview, the rewarding and interesting experiences the interns shared making him expecting his own future internship programs so much.
“I found that students were so focused on and excited about their future internship programs while listening to the Culminating speeches,” said Darcy Au-Yeung, internship mentor and IBDP economics teacher, “they asked a lot of questions, and are preparing psychologically for their own internship in the future.”
So, those students shared with their whole grade about what they gained in the process of doing an internship.
#02 Helping students grow at their own pace
Daystar helps each student grow at their own pace. And Daystar’s internship programs are also designed to patiently help students to make their own exploration and gain hands-on work experience.
“An internship is something that each Daystar high school student must do, as a graduation requirement. But we don’t just assign tasks for all of them,” said college counselor Melissa Meltzer Warehall, “we provide tailor-made internships for each student based on their characteristics and interests, and encourage them to join the internship program after they have gone through our training process where they learn how to meet the expectations of a workplace.”
At present, Daystar’s internship program team is reviewing the experiences of the first four students reflecting on what worked, making improvements, and looking for more resources for the future placements.
Daystar initiated the Social Innovation Program. So, in the future, our internships will be integrated with innovation and social change, and aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, making it totally different from other programs that simply put classroom knowledge into practice.

Students step into actual work scenarios, apply what they have learned to real life, and eventually make a difference in their community, and even the world around them. As for Daystar, we help students find their interests, gain valuable hands-on experience, and prepare for applying to their dream universities. That is the real meaning of “connecting” study with reality that Daystar’s “Social Innovation Program” highlights.
