启明星成为多邻国英语测试学校联盟成员！

Daystar is a Member of the Duolingo English Test Network!

好消息，启明星成为多邻国英语测试学校联盟成员！也就是说，启明星将得到来自多邻国英语测试团队的特别支持，并可以在中国组织多邻国模拟考试。和托福、雅思一样，多邻国英语测试是世界范围内被广泛接受的、作为大学入学申请考察内容之一的标准化英语测试。上个月，我们已经在校园组织了11年级学生参加该模拟考试。未来，我们将继续组织启明星学生参加，并帮助学生决定哪种用于大学入学申请的标准化英文测试最适合自己。

Good News! Daystar is a member of the Duolingo English Test School Network! That is to say, Daystar was one of the high schools in China that was invited to join the group of schools that are receiving exclusive support for students and teachers from the Duolingo English Test team, as well as are permitted to administer the Duolingo English Test on campus. As with TOEFL and IELTS, Duolingo English Test is widely accepted by universities and colleges around the world as a standard English test for college admissions. Like we did last month with our Grade 11 students, in the future, Daystar will organize our own students to take the Duolingo English Test as practice on campus, as well as help students to decide the most appropriate English test to take for their college applications.

 Our College Counselor Attended December meeting of BACC

Last Thursday our college counselor Ms. Melissa Warehall attended the December meeting of the Beijing Academy for College Counseling, a professional organization for counsellors who work at international divisions of public schools and at private bilingual and international schools.

上周四，我们的大学升学顾问Melissa Warehall女士参加了北京升学指导研修院（Beijing Academy for College Counseling ）的12月会议。BACC是为公立学校国际部和私立双语、国际学校的升学辅导老师提供服务的专业机构。

All the counselors at the meeting quickly discovered that they encounter the same issues: parents are anxious about their children’s college processes. And, just as quickly, they came to the same conclusion: Offering parent education workshops, like Ms. Warehall is doing at Daystar on a monthly basis, is key to decreasing parents’ stress level.

所有与会者发现，大家面临相同的问题：家长对孩子的大学申请过程感到焦虑。但与会者也很快得出了相同的结论：像Warehall女士在启明星所做的，每月举办家长工作坊，是减轻家长压力的关键。

The afternoon ended with a lively panel discussion about the structure and functions of college counselling offices. Daystar has one small high school populations of the schools in BACC, which means we provide more one-to-one counselling and group lessons than many other schools. Several of the college counsellors were envious of the weekly college counselling class that our Grade 11 students take, and biweekly lessons of the Grade 10s, because their students are forced to meet during after school hours to get the same information Daystar provides as a part of our college counselling curriculum.

 下午会议结束时，大家围绕升学辅导办公室结构和职能，展开了热烈的小组讨论。在所有BACC成员学校中，启明星的高中学生数量比较小，这也意味着启明星可以为学生提供比其他许多学校更多的大学升学一对一辅导和小组课程。一些升学辅导老师很羡慕启明星的11年级学生可以每周、10年级学生可以每两周参加一次升学指导课，而他们的学生只能在课余时间和他们见面，以获得启明星升学指导课程提供的相同信息。

Please note: The next Parent College Counselling Workshops of Daystar are December 20th, when an overview of the application process of US, Canadian and UK schools will be presented, and on January 18th, when the topic will be the role letters of recommendation play in college applications. Both virtual programs begin at 6pm and Teams Meeting Links are sent the week before to all SS parents via Daystar Online.

请注意：启明星的下一次关于大学升学的家长工作坊将于12月20日举办。届时将介绍美国、加拿大和英国高校的申请流程。1月18日将举办另一次工作坊，主题是推荐信在大学申请中的作用。这两次在线工作坊都将在下午6点开始。TEAMS会议链接将在活动前一周通过Daystar Online发送给所有中学生家长。
