Man Threw Acid on Wife Because She Refused to Bear 2nd Child

A woman, identified by her surname as Zhang, in Zhejiang Province is planning to take her husband to court, citing her husband's domestic violence as the main reason, and she also wants to end their marriage. She told reporters that at one point, the husband threw sulfuric acid on her face when she was in a bathroom at her mother's house.
According to local news reports, the husband was subsequently detained by the police for 10 days and fined 400 yuan for throwing acid at his wife.
Background
In June 2022, the husband told Zhang that he wanted them to have a second child but she refused. They then had an argument, during which the husband took a kitchen knife and threatened to stab her if she did not agree to have a second child.
"He said he would stab me with a kitchen knife if I didn't give him a second child. At the time, I was breastfeeding the first child." Zhang told reporters.
She said she was worried that the abuse would escalate from that day and decided to ask for a divorce, but her husband did not agree.
At the end of June, she hired a lawyer to help her sue for a divorce at the local court but because of many reasons, the court session was not held as scheduled.
Zhang planned to apply for divorce again at the end of January this year. However, about ten days before she filed the case, her husband called and told her that he would like to talk with her face-to-face. She was afraid something might happen and decided to go to her mother's house.
Alas, her husband figured that she would go to her mom's and followed her there and threw sulfuric acid on her head and face when she was in the bathroom.
Zhang said that she felt a strong burning sensation on her head and face, and she could not open her eyes at the time, she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
"I was able to open my eyes after four days."
The diagnosis certificate shows that Zhang was burned with concentrated sulfuric acid, the burns covered 11% of her body and ranged from second-degree to third-degree, and both of her eyes and ears were injured.
Recently, she told reporters that she was still in the hospital for treatment and she is recovering well.
According to news reports, Zhang's husband (Mr. Xu) is a chemical engineer. He was detained and fined 400 yuan by the police.
Zhang told reporters that police have ensured her of her personal safety and she will request an injury assessment report after three months and take her husband to court.
