City Removes 1 Billion Pieces of Covid-related Personal Info

Wuxi city in East China's Jiangsu Province on Thursday erased a first batch of 1 billion pieces of personal data relating to COVID-19 information, In an effort to increase citizen privacy.

China downgraded COVID-19 management and normalised epidemic prevention and control, On January 8.

Personal information was crucial in determining the best course of action and making scientific decisions regarding the epidemic.

For nucleic acid screening, epidemiological origin-tracing inquiry, preventing imported cases, and nucleic acid testing for important populations, data gathered throughout the outbreak were employed.

The personal information had helped ensure that epidemic prevention and control actions were carried out without difficulty.

The idea of governance is reflected in the eradication of personal information. Data that has been used can now be securely destroyed, making sure that it cannot be taken, stored, or altered.
